Safe? Yes. I'm only aware of the events in the first 2 LN, and some slight knowledge from looking at the WN and MTLing some stuff. Mostly the chapter/episode titles.

Fully agree about ease of access. Needs a platform around the barrel to make it even partially serviceable. Though I think you missed them adding a wooden planks at the bottom so that their toes were only be boiled rather then burnt.

Was explained that the clothing was cleaned because it separated out the dirt and bodily fluids from the clothing, which returned it to a "like new" appearance. However I don't remember it being said it repaired damage.

I mean he could just break down the materials and recraft the items, but that seems more of an intentional use of skill rather then an automatic function of his inventory.
