To everyone asking, I read alot of the novel (and skim the rest).
Apparently the lord of where they live sucks, and is obsessed with magical creatures, specially powerfull ones like the protagonists has. The father and the brother bother him un purpose, so he would leave without atachments and also so they wouldn't be blamed of "helping him scape" when they went there to take his beast from him. They didn't say it per se, but it was undestood that this way they could say "nah, he runaway, we didn't help him, everybody knew we didn't like him" and they would not be blame (because it would be the truth), and the protagonist can go away kind of whitout regrets because the brother and the dad were mean. They knew he would be targeted because of the beats.
This also explain why the brother and the dad "never learn" their lesson and keep bothering him and getting peck. They weren't stupid, they did learn, and they kept doign it on purpuso for the act.
Ok, that explains their persistence.
they did a good job at acting. I hope mc will sometimes send eggs to his brother. And bro be like "omg, this egg falls from the sky" wink wink

So the guy is leaving, because his family is poor and isn't able to sustain a child till adulthood when the appraisal shows their number of spells is too low (and also one of his big brothers is a dick)? That's all kinds of messed up...😓

And what about the sisters he was supposed to babysit? What horrible fate will they face? I guess we'll never know...

Regardless of the motives of why he needs to go on his journey, I'm eager to see more of our cute feathery fluffballs.
Thanks for the release. :salute:
I guess it's to make sure they don't take the big chickens.
Obviously the family wouldn't be able to do that even if they tried but some day some big wig who has power can.

Did he just abandon his siblings while parents are away?
By all accounts, yes.
Do we know what these chickens eat? Aren't they getting a ton of giant eggs, why would they want him to leave at 13?
They seem to refuse to give them to anyone but him so only sometimes. He however is responcible for feeding them so i assume it doesn't take from the family's budget.
Maybe if you are poor. DON'T MAKE LIKE 7 CHILDREN. Jeez man stop spreading your legs woman.
It was the norm for poor people to have a lot of kids, it's more hands to help and high infant mortality in such a setting realistically means only half of them will make it.
(Not that that is going to be the case in such a lighthearted manga)

As far as we could see, that wasn't the MC's intention for leaving. He just accepted what his mother told him and was fed up by one of his older brothers. It just feels messed up that these were the reasons he gave for running away in the way he did...

If money is the problem then why are the parents planning on dumping him instead of at least discussing him taking the job the priest offered in the same chapter? That would certainly pay well for their broke-ass standards.

Thanks for the insight. Was wondering why he ran away 3 years early when his home life didn't seem that bad. Sure his dad and older brother were a little annoying, and one of his sisters seemed a bit bratty, but he seemed to have it under control and didn't appear to be starved of love.

Well, the family is shit. Including the parents. "Hey the kid can only learn two spell, let's kick him out and also keep his Cockatrices!". And I wouldn't say his parents were "still great to him", they still kicked him out or planned to. And nobody disagreed with wanting to keep his cockatrices.

Also what's the Japanese authors and making MC's weak/debiliated/inferior recently?

So it was a ploy I didn't see that coming, I see him in a better light now

The point of my comment was that it's messed up that the MC had those two reasons when running away from home in the middle of the night. Now the only reason I would be surprised is if whatever spoiler you read was about thoughts the MC had when leaving but didn't "think out loud" so that we readers would be able to read it.

It doesn't matter what the parents or the brother were thinking. The MC thought that it was reasonable and acceptable that he would have to be thrown out of the house at age 13 because his number of spells were too low and was annoyed by his big brother enough to want to run away. Sounds pretty messed up to me.

The MC doesn't really care about his family except mum really, well with the way they acting, nicely done.

Yeah leaving younger siblings alone is horrible, as someone who has a younger sister and now a nephew, I wasn't happy, even knowing it was a set-up

I hope that he will get together with his family once he has gained more strentgh and influence. Otherwise seeing your family the last time while being only 10y old is just way too sad, and wouldn't be good for any person's mental development.
The mom at the very least (the whole family really, especially after reading that one 'spoiler' comment about his bro & dad) deserves to be taken care of/supported once MC gets his own household/mansion/castle/fiefdom, because I don't really see this protagonist ending up as a poor person.
From the mother's perspective she's thinking that she still has at least 3 years to be together with her beloved son (assuming this isn't some stupid setup to encourage MC leaving this specific night). 3 More years to spend time with those lovely chickens since clearly she adores them also. 3 More years to make more precious memories together, and 3 years to teach your son to survive out there in the world.
From that perspective, MC leaving freaking 3 YEARS EARLY, is actually pretty horrible thing to do, and would 100% break his mothers heart, since she doesn't want to depart from her son even after those 3 years. Now she doesn't even have that. And for the mom I bet the chickens are also family members..
Dunno what this author was thinking, but this shit it just making the protagonist look like a total idiot, especially if he left his sisters alone at home during the night.
