Bows actually do consist of different materials for the body (called the riser) and the bending parts (called the limbs). The riser needs to be as rigid as possible to maintain structure, while the limbs need to be elastic to retain and transform potential energy.

If the riser is too flexible, it would mess with the consistency of how energy is distributed and released in the bow, making the bow unreliable. If the limbs are too rigid, it won't be able to save much energy to transform into kinetic energy, making the bow unusable.
