For all the hate, they definitely nailed the age difference/relationship difference mindset. She's young and looking for "signs" "signals" and some form of jealousy or possessiveness. That's a very very young thing to do. Even as far as her completely forgetting that he just got fucked (literally and figuratively) by a woman who was ready to settle...just really points to her inexperience and mixed expectations.
