So, I’ve got a theory.

What if, while Hiromi’s in Wakayama, he actually starts thinking about moving back? Things are going well, people love the food he’s making, and he’s carving out a place for himself at Mine’s inn. He’s settling in so well that he starts to seriously consider staying for good.

Now, imagine this: after a night of drinking or just having a good time with Mine, Hiromi ends up on the phone with one of the girls from the share house. She hears Mine’s voice in the background, and suddenly, the panic sets in. I can totally picture one of them, maybe even all of them, booking last minute flights to Wakayama. Either to check if Hiromi’s falling for someone else, or just to show up unannounced because, well, that’s just how they roll.

And here’s the kicker: whatever’s starting between Hiromi and Mine, or between him and Nonoka Mitsumori, could end up getting completely cockblocked. Especially if it’s Lili who shows up. Just to be clear, I’m not rooting for them to get back together. I’m all in on that ship sinking.

But still... I can see it happening.

Why? Well, think about it. We’ve already seen Hiromi leave the house before with Chika, and he was gone for a while. It seemed like he wasn’t coming back. But this time? The situation’s different. He’s fresh out of a relationship with Lili, and the sharemates don’t know the full story. Yukari suspects something went down, but the rest of the girls? They’re completely in the dark.

So yeah, imagine the chaos when one of them shows up in Wakayama, ready to settle their doubts.

What do you think? Could it really go down like this?

Good. Let Lili be Hodoka’s problem. Think about it: Hiromi doesn’t need to be with someone who’s quick to break up with him after realizing she put him in an awkward position — spending the night at another guy’s house. It’s simple. No matter how she tries to explain it away, the facts don’t change: she stayed over, her phone died, and her only excuse was, "Oh, my phone died," like that somehow justifies not reaching out to anyone. Nah, that’s weak. Even if nothing happened, she knew just being in that situation would make Hiromi uncomfortable — especially after she told him he had nothing to worry about. That, and a whole bunch of other things, show exactly why she’s not it.

So honestly, if she and Hodoka end up together, good. Let them stay together. Let them be the matching couple, get married, do whatever they gotta do to keep it going — fine by me. But keep her ass away from Hiromi, because we don’t need any more of that bullshit. Real talk. And if this turns into some Domestic Girlfriend type mess, where Lili bounces between Hodoka and Hiromi, I’m out. I’m not here for that dumbass drama.

Besides, Mine is clearly the better choice — all around. She’s running her family's inn successfully, she’s funny, she’s charismatic, and she knows exactly what she wants out of life. Plus, with Hiromi helping her in the kitchen, they could level up the business even more and pull in way better profits. If they decided to start a family, they’d be stacked financially. Straight up. No matter how you slice it, Mine checks all the boxes. She’s the kind of woman who’s genuinely beneficial to Hiromi in the long run.

Meanwhile, what does Lili bring to the table? All she does is paint pictures. That’s it. That’s mid. That’s weak sauce. There’s so much potential with Mine’s character that it makes Lili look obsolete by comparison. She’s just not on the same level. Mine is hands down a better fit for Hiromi than Lili will ever be. Real shit.

Let’s be real — he used his cooking talent and skills to lift himself from homelessness to living in a sharehouse, where he not only cooked for the girls but also started teaching others how to cook, practically making himself his own boss. Now, he’s even being recruited by a proprietress of an inn to cook at her establishment. Those kinds of skills make him a functioning adult.

If he chooses to stay in Wakayama, he already has a business opportunity there. If he goes back to Tokyo, he still has a job waiting for him. Either way, he’s a functioning adult, regardless of how you feel about it. So, I’m very confused as to why you think otherwise — it really doesn’t make any sense. And if you’re saying that not having his own place means he’s not a functioning adult, then by that logic, every girl at the sharehouse — including the 27-year-old cyber analyst who makes good money and comes from wealth — wouldn’t be a functioning adult either, and that just doesn’t add up.

Well, I think we have dramatic differences on what it means to be a functioning adult. The way I see it, having a job and creating a living for yourself, whether in your hometown or in a different city, makes you a functioning adult. Because no matter where you go, you can always create a job opportunity for yourself.

Now, you speaking on his ex, I gotta say, I partly agree with that. His ex did play him. She cheated on him, kicked him out, and when she came back, he didn't really question her. However, as you said, he did listen to the phone call and realized she was using him because the other guy wouldn't put up with her shit, and he ended that relationship. That makes him a functioning adult.

Part of life is, there's no human on this earth that goes through life without making mistakes. Making mistakes and learning from them also makes you a functioning adult.

But that's just my opinion. That's just how I see it.

This is my first Sasuga Kei Manga, so here goes my blind take: all this will make Lily understand why her relationship with.. Hodaka? (can't really remember the name of her classmate) upset Hiromi so much, because she will feel the same about him spending time with the "proprietress". This will either make her melodramatically go to his hometown to win him back, or make her retract on herself even more.

Hiromi, on the other hand, will have a "side" love triangle with his two former classmates, (hopefully) hook up with one (or two) of them but then return to the sharehouse, with or without Lily (it's the name of the Manga, after all)
