Its not April 1st so whats up with this comments changes?

I love MD. I am so used to daily checking my manga feed. Click on comments - no comments nothing happens, comments are there it opens the forum thread. Click on chapter to open it. All in new tabs. Then I read comments, read chapter comments were about. Read chapter and potentially post a comment if there were no comments yet. Or just read comments if its about chapter I already read, just from different group.

Now opening comments opens that damn chapter with some special side tab, showing me last comment or telling me to pay to read/comment/something before others. It automatically marks that chapter as read, so if I just want to read comments, I need to go to the chapter, click the link to the forum in the new panel, close said panel, click on the manga title to go to its main page, and uncheck the "seen" mark, to keep stuff clean like it was before.

Not to be rude, but who ever designed this change has no clue what clean UI/UX is or they were forced by someone to make the site worse, to make fake "viewed/seen" marks appear on as many chapters and their versions as possible, and/or make people dislike commenting to close the forums? Cause like this is just bad.

The whole update is kinda garbage, as someone who mainly uses this site to check comment threads and the occasional mango. If I wanted to pay to read comments/ comment myself, I'd go read on utoon.

I thought that us peasants are not allowed to comment anymore.

Turns out they're not. They just invented classism and gives priority to the rich. We can still comment. Just in the forums.

But, I do agree that the chapter also being opened when the comment button was opened is a terrible design.

It seems they forced a change to the site. Mangas I opened in tabs, reload the site after few pages read.

Now if I click on comments on the feed page or manga main page - it opens directly to forums, not to chapter with the new panel.

EDIT: The above worked for like a minute, and it gone back to the "new bad ways".

No clue about why - probably wanted some nice change. The panel itself in the chapter view is OK, to track last comments. Just all the other stuff was bad - and it seems they changed it back already? The panel is there, just that comments link goes to comments threads not to the chapter+panel.

Also the paid stuff is supposedly a mistake - supporters and some ranks were supposed to only see some changes as a test, before it gets released to everyone - but something gone wrong with that.

Also #2 - you can still comment/shit post - just before the fix you would need to click more than normal.

What this statement fails to mention, is the fact that it actually should've been.
"Only supporters can use the new Comments#BETA at the moment. Become a supporter to gain beta test access, too!"
It has been hinted multiple times that the feature is part of a progressive roll out, and stated that regular users will gain access to it as well after the testers are done ironing out the kinks and when the spam prevention system is up and running.

But, I do agree that the chapter also being opened when the comment button was opened is a terrible design.

I too have my concerns with this part of the design, hopefully they take the current feedback in consideration before the new system is released for the whole userbase.

It seems to be already fixed. Chapters were reloading the page while in the middle of reading.
EDIT: Worked as should for a minute or two, then instantly gone back to the "new wrong way".

Checked in the feed and in few mangas main pages - clicking on comments goes directly to forum threads instead of to the chapter with new panel open. Will it stay this "old way" we will see? EDIT - no it didn't stay that way, reverted to wrong way instantly.

Well scratch that. 2 minutes later and comment buttons again open chapters with the new panel. So nothing fixed - horrible UI change still persist.

One would think they'd fully test it on the canary version of the site before they let it loose unto live, when regular users can't even use it yet.

At least they know that as it currently is, the new system's implementation/UI it ain't gonna fly for the rest of the userbase.

What is this update even supposed to accomplish? I'm struggling to see any possible benefits. This just makes the experience way worse by breaking up comments into multiple places and making it take more clicks to get to the same place.

Worse one yet when new chapter uploaded there no way to open a new forum thread. I usually access the other forum section through MD comments. Now, it's extra inconvenience
