So she kept pushing the uncomfortable "slave" character on him, because in addition to misunderstanding what boys are like, she was projecting her own insecurity on him?
Akane came back, but to my surprise she befriended Ruri. Ruri in turn (initially) respected their date (it IS a date) and wasn't going to play third wheel now that she successfully made up with Yuuta. Things were fine up to this point; I would have accepted this as a resolution to his problem with Ruri.
Aaand just like that, it's a goddamn love triangle now.
I expected him to forgive her, but not her moving quickly to try to "secure" him from her newfound rival, going back on her earlier decision to respect their date and leave.
"I guess it's not my destiny..."
So much for subtlety... I get it already, the plot wind isn't blowing behind Akane's sails anymore now that she's in a seemingly good position to win. She's likely getting sidelined now while it's Ruri's turn to get a push says the writer, and as much as I hate it I just know eventually Yumi will too.
He doesn't have a scheduled date with Ruri yet, but I can be sure he'll visit the cafe again, which will be the closest thing they'll have to a date (until she gets a second date like how Akane is on her second date now; if this remains predictable, then every girl gets a second date with him to set him up for that "big choice at the end").
