The ending was kind of rushed, eh? The old-style character designs drew me in. I was mildly interested in the twisted fetishes... I wouldn't recommend this, but if you're bored and are fascinated by macabre themes then sure, spend a day or two to go through this manga.

Good reach. I like your incite of Makoto's view of himself and love. I was never quite sure if he was trying to re-explore what "Normal" is. He had that whole moment of "growing up" where he realized that he isn't that child anymore and he's no longer at the mercy of his brother. I also considered that he and Mikoto where changing each other little by little. Each fulfilling a need in one another. Everyone seemed to be trying to fill a void of some sort with another person. I wish that was explored more. Maybe I'm the one that reaching now. lol.

Thanks for explaining that. It confuse me so much this whole series. I was thinking allergy test.

Ok Odd. :question:Bit of an ignorant statement. Why invalidate your own comment? Its like saying "I didn't read the book or watch the move but it sucked Just read the synopsis on the back. But Trust me I know these things"

Its one thing to read story and come to a conclusion with your own thoughts and opinions. Which is good thing, even if you find its not your cup of tea. That's OK. But then there's this.

What was the purpose in posting?

But hey you probably skipped reading this too.
Tragedy readers will gas anything , they didn't like the story, the ending is super trash but you'll call it realistic and deep

Like the rest of the comments, i really felt the ending rushed, it seems the author had a lot of ideas but sadly nothing was done.

We never knew why Makoto's "brother" was so obssesed to him. The woman living with them wasn't a bad idea, but her actions were minimal.

While we had an idea where the storyline was going on, i think we didn't have a momentum to the conflict to the end, 1 or 2 volumes would help, but it's hard to create a conflict in 2 chapters.

perhaps more wombs than the manga Wombs

The Dots are vaccinations
I thought it had to mean something because i've only seen it on:
1. blindfolded woman in porn video at internet cafe (initially thought this meant this was secretly black-haired woman)
2. black-haired woman that shuichi thought he killed (ch26 pg13)
3. sayori / pet lady
4. mikoto
today i learned about the 9-pronged BCG apparatus which possibly has a masochism side effect

anyway thanks for the translation!

@Unconcerned
Thank you so much for seeing this through the end! I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about this but personally I think it's a very beautiful work, one we knew had no happy ending coming, so thanks for letting me experience this.

I wanna be the lenient person and just say 'well it's ryona porn and i'm not the target audience' but idk, co-dependency and developing kinks because of trauma can make an interesting manga IF you take the subject seriously and not just turn it into a dumb slapstick comedy. Like it's pretty much that, if the author committed to the heavy subject and made the characters go through actual consequences in the appropriate times instead of everybody repeatively making gag faces to abuse being done in front of them this would be an incredibly better manga, for both ryona and non-ryona readers.

Yeah, I wish there was a clear correlation of the injections being on the women, but it’s simply tuberculosis vaccines…

Usually in manga older woman characters have this. It’s like the single crease under the eye or around the mouth that gets used to show age.

I guess maybe a super-theory could be a sort of nod to how the women of this series are portrayed, as in the “does your pet have all her shots?” Idk -.- “My bitch has been vaccinated!” It’s a real stretch but maybe it really was intended subtlety

Okay late to the party but here are my thoughts!

Ending Analysis:
So the gentian flower in the final chap title symbolizes, among other things, deep love and victory, so you could say it hints at both characters actually finding the love they wanted, even if both cases are delusions.
Mikoto dies imagining Makoto enthusiastically indulging in her kink, and Makoto will live the rest of his life pretending Mikoto only felt disgust towards him.

Series Cons:
Like lots have said, there was a lot under-explored, but one thing I was very disappointed to see lack payoff was the motherhood/rebirth theme that seemed to permeate the series; even one of the last chaps refers to pregnancy! The frequent sexuality_associated womb imagery and Makoto mentioning a few times that he saw Mikoto in a motherly way just went nowhere.
Mikoto's burgeoning understanding of Makoto's past, circumstances and motivations also came to a grinding halt in favor of fetish-of-the-week filler chapters unfortunately.

I also think Shuichi's arc didn't get implemented as effectively as it should have. He just popped out of nowhere to do stabbities and disappeared! With him having several dedicated chapters leading up to his murder attempt, I expected a lot more. His brother literally had no place anywhere!

Mutsumi also needed some exploration. I liked that he and his actions towards Makoto were kept vague, but imo his motivations needed more clarification.

Pros:
Honestly I LOVED this series. It has its issues, but it does so much right. The composition and art is expressive and visceral; there were lots of pages that took my breath away, usually in disgusted horror lol. The contrast of subject matter and presentation made it easier to see into the characters heads, as they would likely not see the gravity of their actions and situations. It made the whole story both easier and harder to stomach!

The characters are all but impossible to root for, unless you're like me and actually veiw them with a lot of compassion. After all, the highly detailed anotomical representations of character's paraphilic arousal is a glaring reminder that people cannot choose if something arouses them. It's mostly a tragic story if viewed that way.

Lastly, I want to say this is absolutely a niche appeal series and needs a massive trigger warning for anyone who has history with abuse. I don't agree but it could easily be argued that the series treats that subject disrespectfully.

Thanks for translating this. This manga was on my list since it was first published.

11/10 ending but I wouldnt recomend it to anyone really. The ending reminded me of sundome. I wish the author keeps doing this but I guess the other works its a full 180 degrees from it.
