Alot of people are hating on Miyuki but you have to remember she is but a child who is being pulled along and simply trying to protect herself. At this time she has no clue the errors of what she is doing not only taking things for granted but also being peered pressured into not going against everyone else either. Most people when committing a mistake like Miyuki will just double down and make things worse for themselves instead of actually properly fixing what they did wrong. It wont be until it's too late for her that she finally realizes how dumb she was and how much she has lost. The worse part is once she realizes her wrongs she has no clue how to start making ammends and just ends up wallowing in despair as at that point the one she wrong, Eiji, does not even want anything to do with her anymore. Ontop of the fact there is no one left on her side to even guide her back onto the proper path.

While I do not condone the things she's done as well as her inactions to stop the bullying, I do believe in giving her a second chance at life and that the amount she has suffered and lost is vastly disproportionate to the sins she's commited. More so when she is properly reflecting on her actions and has fully commited to accepting any and all punishments directed her way.
Thank you! Finally a sane comment.

We, as the audience, have the benefit of the third-person omniscient perspective on this story. We can see and hear everything that all of the characters are doing, saying, and thinking. This means we can see the bricks being laid on the road that Miyuki is starting to build, and, thanks to the plethora of spoilers that have told everything that is going to happen later on, we know exactly how fucked up Miyuki's lie in this chapter is going to be for her.

If we look at the situation from her perspective, her doubling down makes sense. She has lost both her boyfriend, and the family that she was going to marry into. She's literally a walking crater of despair, and she's thinking that Kondo will save her from her despair.

Does this mean that she shouldn't face consequences of her lies? No. Not at all. She should be held to account and face some consequences, but, from what I have read in all the spoilers, what she will face is way too disproportionate to her actions.

I think there's a big disconnect from the folks who read ahead in the novel versus those of us who are learning of things as the manga chapters come out.

From what I've seen so far she was manipulated into being Kondo's personal f-toy, then like an addict she couldn't break herself free from him once it was pretty damn obvious he was bad for her, and now she's in a failure spiral of making increasingly bad choices because of her fear of what will happen if the lie comes apart. She's like a prostitute covering for her pimp because she's more afraid of the pimp than the cop about to arrest her.

Related we know Kondo was emotionally blackmailing her but has there been any indication yet if he's blackmailing her in other ways? He 100% seems like the type of scum that would hold a sex tape over her head.
EXACTLY! She's been manipulated, and while she should face consequences for not stepping up about the bullying, she is, at the end of the day, a child. Like you said, she's starting to spiral, and she appears to double-, triple-, and quadruple-down to try and save face. But, then again, Japanese culture is vastly different to US, or even European, culture. So, it's not outside the realm of possibility to see students not step up to stop the bullying and isolation of Eiji lest they face the same social punishment.

Hell, I'm sure everyone in this thread have experiences like that where they double-down on a lie to try and protect themselves from some perceived punishment, only to be met with a greater punishment for not telling the truth.

What about if female lead wasn't on roof he would have jumped thx to what she did, people still will try and justify her actions and make it seem she had no choice but to lie, cheat and send him into a spiral of depression. It was her choice to accept the seduction, she just always took MC for granted and would always be there no matter what she does
Read all comments and you find some defender trying to argue she is also a victim because she was "seduced" by senpai

as sensei said they r kids and dont understand that the only ones fuckedup are themselves, they r victims too and she is one of the biggest victims of the story. author tries to emphatize that after in the story but i cant forgive her just bc he was about to die at the rooftop she choose her safety (scared of backlash of her lies when it comes to truth that if she told). and yeah maybe if he was randomass guy she met in highschool i wouldnt care this much but she know his entire family for years, they were friends for years too how can you be this stupid and brainless. at this point she wont be redeemable bc she is in too deep thats why she keeps choosing the worst and choosing the right after all this time isnt even possible for her bc that needs a lot of maturity which she doesnt even have neither experience or mental capacity.
She isn't a victim, she is a complice. She never tried fix the situation or do anything to stop the lie, on the contrary, she trying hide the true because she don't want face the consequence for her own actions. Like how she lied to mc, she lied to her mom and the teacher because she don't have deal with the consequence of her own actions. In irl we meet a few persons like her, they prefer stay lying than face deal with the consequence of their actions, shifting the blame instead accepting they are suffering because their own actions. She isn't a victim.

Except she doesnt know what Eiji is going through. She had no clue about any of the bullying or what was happening to Eiji until after it had already happened. She didnt even know about his attempt and was under the deluded impression that things would simply die down and go back to the way it was before. Yes she could have tried to speak up and stop things at that point, but even then it was already too late as most were already on Kondo's side. Ontop of the fact she truly believed Kondo's words that he would take care of everything, not fully comprehending what he means when he said that.

Understand that while what she did was wrong she is still a victim simple used by Kondo. Kondo, who in turn wasn't even the real villain and was also being used by someone else. However unlike Miyuki, Kondo is not a victim as he went in with full intentions of harming and breaking Eiji.

Also do not be mistaken when I state "a person is also a victim" that they can did nothing wrong. A victim can still have done wrong but more often than not they were led to do those wrongs by the illusion that they had no other choice.

We're talking what-ifs here. Would Miyuki's plan of ending things with Kondou works in first place if Eiji didn't catch them red handed? Would she be able going back to be cute innocent girlfriend and Eiji won't realize the affair? First big obstacle is Eiji's mom. Would she say nothing if she saw Eiji and Miyuki still in a relationship? Maybe she thought they're on a break period or something or some "white lie" is okay?
The senpai club prez definitely wants to tell Eiji with photos so I guess it's kinda hard to avoid on this one, but what if she didn't do it?

That's Bullshit. Kondo is going to juvie while the other one is going to prison. All Miyuki has to do is pay compensation (which she could have contest to lower it) for damages which was also applied to the others who did property damage and online slander. She has done nothing worthy of redemption but rather feeling sorry for herself due to the consequences she is facing which are also applied to the others.

Light Novel Volume 4 is coming out on May 29, 2026. I’ll share it simple spoiler summary for Volume 4 later in the next chapter, probably when Chapter 10 comes out.

From comments from other people, it sounded like the story in the novel had run its course. Did other drama come up or something?

I think some of you guys are thinking too deep about this.

The fact of the matter is that Kondo had literally nothing on Miyuki until after she accepted his advances. She literally folded under zero pressure. She only has herself to blame.

Honestly there is no WHAT IFS because they were GOING to

1. The Cheating was going to be exposed no matter HOW SNEAKY Miyuki was, that's why it was a SHOCKER that Ms. Aono find out for her. Note she outted herself because Ms. Aono was IN the dark and all she had was she saw her around a boy she didn't know. IT was Eiji's state in CH1 when he came home, him hanging around Ai and Miyuki's CRYING about him "snitching" that confirmed the truth to her! Just not the WHOLE TRUTH as she told her, for the SAKE of her friendship to the little bitch's mother and their PAST relationship, she was giving her the CHANCE to slick back into the shadows in which she came without ANY MORE then her GLARE and contempt (Something she would LATER regret to herself when she FINALLY got to see what happened in CH 1 to her son and what Miyuki allowed to happen at school once Eiji told her about the bullying, well more she found out from the TEACHER as the two together got the Recording of the incident that started all this! Yeah turns out Miyuki is STILL BLIND to the public as a FOODIE Streamer had been nearby, her the commotion cause Kondo is a loud idiot, and recorded the whole scene! While you couldn't hear what was going on, it VERY MUCH showed Eiji never grabbed her on her wrist BUT KONDO DID that caused the bruising! All this is what leads to Ms. Aono's lawsuit and police filing on her son's behalf that leads to Kondo's Juvie, well partially as his actions when the cops came to him made it SO MUCH WORSE for him! And the lawsuit at Miyuki! While Kondo was the start of the slander that lead to Eiji being targeted, Miyuki is EQUALLY responsible as she allowed the picture to be taken, and she HAD her chance to confess, but said nothing, allowing the slander to go forward unresisted! Lying for Kondo only ASSURED she is an Accomplice now, even if she PLEADED Kondo said he'd never use the Photo for anything other then scaring Eiji off, that will just be seen as an excuse she used to avoid responsibility and her part. ESPECIALLY when she was given a chance to ..To add

1A (The "To Add"): Tachibana (the name of Eiji's Senior and the President of his Club and the MASTERMIND who send Kondo to Miyuki in the first place) was ALWAYS going to have it exposed, the slander was a STROKE of a opportunity! But Eiji was ALWAYS going to find out because it was about emasculating him so he couldn't focus on his Novel. This situation allowed her to "LEGIT" remove him from the club, AND if not for his Kouhai, would have TRASHED his novel when "getting rid of his stuff" So NO she was NEVER going to be able to hide the relationship.

1B (Miyuki's logic): Her logic behind her hiding this shit was that Kondo was a Senior (same as Tachibana and Endou since they were on their last year before they graduate to University) so her plan was to have her CHEATING relationship with Kondo, and once he graduated, she'd "never see him again" (just like SO MANY fools! Assuming they'll never see a problem again because they left the area! Till they are DEAD you are forced to deal with them no matter what to be honest) but as said with "1" and "1A" that was ALWAYS doomed because she was A TOOL, a Means to an End for Tachibana and a TOY for Kondo! But remember she did it to herself, she KNOWS cheating was wrong, hell her FATHER'S abandonment of her and her mother which of course involved Cheating should have shown her as her mother tried hard to hide it the effects! But she still did it ANYWAY because she was thinking she was sneaky and thought she could have it all! And as they say "Those who want to have their Cake and Eat it to, will get NEITHER!" Even if you take out Tachibana, Kondo WOULD have made her do to Eiji what he got Eri to do to Endou, and he DID as shown in Chapter 1! It's why Miyuki's only WINNING option would have been to NEVER TAKE KONDO'S PROPOSITION TO BEGIN WITH! She doomed herself the second she said yes and fucked him! and Doomed herself further by FAILING to return all of Eiji's goodwill over 10 fucking years when it was her turn out of pure self-preservation! In the end she is alone....because she MADE herself alone!

2. Miyuki WOULD have commited suicide, there is no BUTS to that! Seeing how once she DID find out about his suicide attempt, what he went through and finally getting to "talk to him" only to be REJECTED by him for the obvious reasons that she CONTINUES to disgrace the girl in his memories and finally realized he never HATED her, he was INDIFFERENT! She almost offed herself in the same fashion he had tried to do! And like that, it was Ai's intervention that prevented it! In Miyuki's case "calling her OUT for still being a coward and aimming to HURT Eiji more because INDIFFERENT IS NOT HATE and she KNOWS as Ai knows her death would only DESTROY Eiji further! If Eiji HAD killed himself (or failed and only BADLY crippled and injured himself instead! Either all), it would have destroyed Miyuki, even if she held on, the guilt would have been WORSE, and worse for her! Tachibana has no more reason to keep the charade going, So Kondo would be FREE to "do with her as he pleases" and remember, his end goal was to "enjoy her" till he got bored then abandon her just like he did to Eri cause he got OFF on her realizing she had been made a FOOL of, and her PLEADING not to be abandoned since she CRASHED her life trying to satisfy him! Take note this would have IMMEDIATLY caused Ms. Aono to find out what was going on SOONER, the school would have IMMEDIATLY done what their doing now only alot more FIRM (And I doubt Miyuki would do what she did HERE in that "What If" since she would have the FULL understanding his "suicide" WAS her fault and that guilt WOULD make it hard to even TRY to lie! And of course we can't forget the GOAT of the story himself

2A (The GOAT) You really think Endou would have remained quiet! He was ALREADY aimming to destroy Kondo and his "supporters" the second the slander and pariah on Eiji Aono happened! You think he won't go EXTREME then he already was doing the second he discovered Eiji's Suicide attempt/Success! And this would have been BAD for him since he COULD be saved in this universe, but in the other universe, there would be no Eiji to calm him down or stop him from going BALLASTIC on ALL INVOLVED.

Also let's say Eiji never really finds out. The chances that she would do it again are highly likely.

Victim this, victim that! The moment she started lying to protect herself and decided to goes along with Kondo's plan she stopped being a victim and become an accomplice.

And are we that stupid to believe she don't know how Eiji is doing? This is school! People love to gossip and talked about the most controversial thing that happened in school. And most importantly they are classmates! She saw it live how they bully him!

And last but not the least. We have this thing called conscience. Those who have conscience knows not to join the bullying whether the accusations is true or not. And if she truly cared about Eiji, her conscience would start kicking in and will admit to the lie when the teacher started interrogating her.

Like people said. This is set in Japan. A mark on Eiji's record means doom to him for the rest of his life.

Yep, Miyuki lost the second she even CONSIDERED his Proposition
What was going on in her mind when he propositioned her! "Oh it would be a shame if I didn't do it!" meaning she WILLINGLY cheated in her own mind. She's only distraught cause she's losing the life she THOUGHT wasn't going to be lose, because she REALLY believed she would have NEVER been caught, she REALLY believed she'd never see Kondo again when he graduated, and NOT that Kondo had SO MANY WAYS to snitch on her! That yeah she REALLY WAS that full of herself!

Finding out Tachibana INTIALLY did to Eiji what Kondo did to Miyuki and Eiji DIDN'T waver or THINK of betraying Miyuki, but throughout the story Miyuki couldn't be BOTHERED to do for him what she knew he DAMN WELL would do for

Someone pointed out something I missed in the Novel! There was a moment in the past where the Loud Mouth Female Friend of Miyuki was BAD MOUTHING Eiji and saying he was unworthy of her and she never did ANYTHING or SAY anything against! They feel Miyuki in truth was TERRIFIED of losing Eiji that she would LET others assume him average, hence never saying anything GRAND about him! When you see Ai's feelings towards him and even TACHIBANA gives him begrudgingly some proper RESPECT. You can see WHY Miyuki felt INFERIOR and unworthy to him. And WHY she fell for Kondo! Kondo makes himself EASY for girls like her, hence why they keep FALLING for his BS! They don't need to try, but there's a REASONS fuckboi's like him are RED FLAG bad news! But despite his TRUE personality showing up, ESPECIALLY in Chapter 1 and ESPECIALLY after he revealed the photo and LIED about the injury. She STILL refused to see him as TERRIBLE, hell later before her WORLD really started crashing down, Kondo even PROPOSTIONED becoming "HIS GF" officially and abandoning Eiji entirely, claiming to be BETTER! And even though she didn't answer, it looked like she was ACTUALLY considering it, meaning she GIVEN UP on ever fixing things with Eiji! And the best part when CAUGHT after that moment and her mother confronts her. The bitch STILL tries to lie to her and say she was out with Eiji! In one word she LIES and claims she broke up with Eiji and he was stalking her, and in the other "their still together" Girl can't pick a side to save her life....yeesh

Kondo LOOKED cheap, ACTED Cheap. But it had to take CONFIRMATION of his cheating on her and LACK of respect for her as she saw jewelry on the girl in the picture that SHE GAVE HIM, showing he RE-GIFTED it, meaning he never "Gave a shit about her or HOW she would feel" as you know he'd use The classic "I lost it" if she ever inquired which she WOULD have believed like a dope! At least screwing himself for short term PLEASURE at realizing she duped herself with him allowed her to FINALLY get more common sense back! Enough to finally start telling the fucking truth and not STONEWALL and waste time getting things DONE and Settle!

Did I say anything about that? No. I said she should face consequences. But, I will save that conversation until they actually show up in the manga to have an actual discussion about proportionality.
