Oh wow, Takeru's going to withdraw from Akira's life? That's a bit messed up. But since he feels he has failed her, he has to do it?

Ryota's gonna convince him there's no need for that, right? I mean, a good brother would help convince even his sister's biological father to improve himself.

I guess Akira's fully moving into the Majima family registry now? Akira Himeno will change to Akira Majima, then. TBH, this was the first story I've seen where one step-family member (who's not the remarrying woman) kept their old family name after moving into the family registry. I didn't even know such a thing was possible, I just assumed all members joining the new family automatically gets the family name.

The fact that her dad can apologize and admit that he's a good-for-nothing is a sign he's started to pick up the pieces of his life back. Unless I missed that he's already remarried, I think he might be remarrying soon, which could be why he's finally letting go of his daughter, whose custody he doesn't have.

He did ultimately leave his wife to get remarried and let her daughter go with the mom. Whatever his reasons, he broke the family apart, but at least he can leave knowing his ex-wife and daughter have a better environment and family situation.
So abandoned them for new younger package I'm guessing yeah it happens

Bruh, and here I thought I was clever and Orignal for replacing suicide with sudoku...

"Don't commit sudoku"~ me last 2 years ago feeling original.

Guess it was more common than I thought.

This was absolutely unneeded. What is author trying to achieve here? Make us feel bad about her biological father?

The way that one parent essentially vanishes once a remarriage happens has always seemed crazy to me. Is it really like this In Japan?

He was an unsuccessful actor who made excuses for his lack of success then turned to alcohol. Then they decided to to break up because they had a "different set of values." From chapter 3.

A "good for nothing" doesn't admit he's a good for nothing to begin with.
No, there's the type that feels sorry for themselves and wallows in self-pity over being a shitty parent but never does anything to improve themselves. That type admits it.

W dad... if you are that self-aware is better to let her go.

If he try tô be around i think he knows he Will try something that is why he said that about the MC father, it Will end up in a fight.

If she didn't try tô reach out for him, is just selfish for him to try tô be close.

It's like that in America too, sometimes.

though it has become less common in the 20th century, with social norms (and child support laws) changing.

Of course, there are extreme cases - my Grandmother (in ~1920 USSR) filed for divorce & fled her village the next day, taking her daughter with her. Nobody ever said why, but I can guess.
