But you're missing the whole point. Haru may be OP, but she is still just a whore in a system where women, let alone sex workers, don't have basic rights. In other words, just because she played the system doesn't negate the fact the system exist.

@lolnope I'm not missing the whole point I just call bullshit on the whole point.
Haru is the strongest character in the LN if she wanted to go off and improve the life of women somewhere some how she could do that. Hell Haru could theoretically take over the whole kingdom if she wanted to. Also Haru hasn't "played the system", she just got lucky in the ability she got and doesn't even use it for anything until the end of the novel. There was no "playing the system" involved.

Huh, hadn't thought about it like that. Yeah, this can be read as is, but most of it assumes you are familiar with isekai and the tropes that come with it.

@kingaron
You are missing the point, though. Since abilities don't seem to be hereditary, at most she'll just bully her way into a flimsy acceptance of women that will last until she dies, and then the opression will come back with a vengeance using her as a witch. And even saying it, she probably hasn't thought that far and just doesn't think that a single powerful person can change everything.
This, I believe, ties with the second novel, which has Haru thinking along these lines, and how change may just start from a small spark.
Fictional character opinions may or may not be in line with those of the poster.

Once again no I'm not missing the point. Plus I've also thought of that already. Any plan I could make up could fail for one reason or another but that dose not mean a plan should not be tried, just come up with a better plan. I have spent months just sitting down and thinking about what the point of the series is. I've also read a lot of different opinions about it, so I'm fairly aware of what the point of the series is.
We also have Harus' thought process about why she doesn't use her abilities. I just think it's a flimsy reason for the author to justify his plot. I think the reveal should have happened earlier and then we could get better explanations for why Haru doesn't use her abilities. I just think it was poorly executed.

Where in the summer novel dose Haru say anything about a small spark? I'm looking at it and can't find it.

Fair point, though she's just a high-schooler, even if she is OP. Not every high-schooler has to save/change the world. Hell, not even every adult can.
She doesn't say it, she just thinks it's better that way in the end, with the girls being able to just... "be" in the cafe-like shop. That's why I said along those lines, sorry if it was confusing.

Quick question.
But would anyone here take Haru if they met her?

Like you comment reader. If you got isekaid and met her, would you pursue her romantically?
I'm guessing no right?

Like I feel bad for her. She doesn't even have to go through this since she has an OP ability.

This story wasn't designed to explore pride in sex work because the heroine does it out of necessity, nor was it designed with the intent on giving a character any goals in life. What does Haru actually want in this story?

I feel like the title came to someone as an attractive and unique premise.... and that's it.

i don't i understand why it has such a low rating for me this manga deserve 8.
an isekai with good story and realism
Realism doesn't mean edgy.

I've figured out the target audience. Japanese men who had poor experiences with the "popular" highschool girls and want to experience sexual revenge against them through this manga.

Or maybe, just MAYBE people who like dark Seinen ?
Obviously if you can't handle depressing story with a MC who can't get anything good for a while, it's better to just read a generic Isekai with random MC getting level and becoming Overpowered after 2 chapters.

Only if she still had her long hair. She was looking better with it.
Realism doesn't mean edgy.
It's not Edgy. Or all seinens are edgy for you.
Edgy mangas are things like Isekai revenge porn, no need to say names, it's easy to find.
Or Sasuke. Obviously.

I don't think this manga needed to be set up as an isekai to tell what it's done so far. I've read the spoiler tag someone gave me about future events, but just judging on what's been given to us so far in the manga, there is no reason it couldn't have just been a person who was actually born in the world trying to figure out what the meaning of their life is in the prostitution industry and in an asshole of a medieval world in general. It would've been more interesting and compelling to read, but all of the isekai aspects are just in poor taste so far for me. Like the ass hole guy that got sent with her is basically a half self-insert for whoever wants to do that.

I won't say I'm exactly a massive fan of dark seinen if it's primarily about suffering and nothing else. Doesn't feel like there's a purpose in pure suffering and NOTHING else to me. I've been reading Chi no Wadachi and read/watched Vinland Saga last year. I think they're on the dark side for seinen series, but there are different takeaways you can take from them.

Even if I've never experienced anything as wild as what happens in Chi no Wadachi, if you scale down what happens in it, abusive parents and abused children that take on attributes from their parents is a real thing. It's a good manga for showing that.

If you've read Vinland Saga, imagine if the MC in that was from our world and it was an isekai. Even with the dark undertones and character development, the backdrop would've hurt it SO much in it's narrative and in trying to flesh out MC since his baseline would have been different from someone who was inherently born and living in a world from the start. I think JK Haru would've been much more interesting if the JK part was taken out and she was just straight up born in the world with an actual backdrop instead of copping out and trying to grab a small slice of the crappie that is Isekai.

I liked it as an isekai because it is making fun of the genre and self centred otaku self inserts. Because I’m also sick as fuck about that genre. But it totally would’ve worked as a non isekai.

Maybe it’s because I’m also a woman (and also admittedly sick of the otaku self insert assholes like China) but I liked this more then I thought I would. A realistic, somewhat bleak view of the type of misogynistic society, sex work, and trying to find your place in it. It’s humanising, in a way.

Haven’t seen any spoilers for what happens, but if anyone wants to tell me if Chiba gets his comeuppance later and Haru’s outlook gets better, I would appreciate it.

She has no goals tho. Mature stories actually go somewhere. Like... Risou No Himo Seikatsu.

It's not Edgy. Or all seinens are edgy for you.

Nah this is edgy. It hurts the characters for no real reason, and keeps the characters on the emotional downturn without those characters even trying.

When it comes to something mature that's not edgy... What about early Shield Hero?
Shield Hero is not edgy because when shit gets dark and he gets pushed against the wall, Naofumi never gives up, has goals and aspirations and tries his best.
It's still mature because it deals in themes of abandonment, and challenges what an idealistic mindset can result in.

If you hurt the character, at least give it a reason, or else you're just being edgy.

Can you say the same about this heroine? Not only does she have the power to get herself out of the scenario she's in, but she has no desires, or aspirations. All the negative emotional impact is there just to hurt someone with no thoughts on her future.

__

This story is so obsessed about keeping to its namesake it actually hurts the narrative it's trying to tell. Though tbh I really can't tell what it's aiming for narratively right now since no one has aspirations and the challenges that the protagonist faces just exist for misery porn to get the reader hard.

As someone who has already read everything from the Novels...
It's funny how people are actually missing the point...
I think its the fault of the Manga Adaptation so far...
I'm actually finding the comments hilarious...
Can't Wait for the Anime Adaptation...

It's the manga, and maybe even the writing that is at fault if many of the viewers "miss the point".
Please elaborate on what we've missed so far that the novels seem to expand upon greatly in more interesting detail as you seem to imply if you can.
