Ehhhh to be honest and I could be wrong here, it feels more like the author is trying to write a specific kind of fucked up dynamic here so much as saying it's a good one. It's flat out said in text that what Tamako is doing is fucked up but she does it for her own benefit. Mixed in with the fact that already childhood friends means a lot of the relationship growth we can end up seeing is something that has already happening.

At the end of the day though, I'm not here because there's a 'better' pairing. Would it be a healthier relationship for Ui to get with literally anyone else? Almost certainly! But I can find that kinda stuff in a dozen other series if that's what I wanted. No, I'm here because this is the only series I know of with this specific kind of fucked up.
