# Everything You Need to Know About Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: Recaps, Plot Teases, and Fresh News

Hey there, fellow sorcerers and curse enthusiasts! If you're anything like me, you've been eagerly awaiting any scrap of news about Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 ever since the heart-wrenching finale of Season 2. Well, the wait is finally paying off with some major announcements dropping just today. In this blog post, I'll take you through a quick recap of the first two seasons to get you up to speed, dive into what we know about Season 3, and cover the latest news and related buzz surrounding Gege Akutami's epic series. Let's jump in—no cursed energy required!

## A Quick Recap of Season 1: The Birth of a Sorcerer

Jujutsu Kaisen burst onto the anime scene in late 2020, introducing us to a world where negative human emotions manifest as deadly curses that sorcerers must exorcise. The story kicks off with Yuji Itadori, a high school student with superhuman strength and a heart of gold. After his grandfather's death, Yuji joins the Occult Club, but things go sideways when a powerful curse attacks his school. In a desperate bid to save his friends, Yuji swallows a finger belonging to the legendary King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna, becoming his vessel. This act draws the attention of Jujutsu High, a secret school for sorcerers.

Under the guidance of the enigmatic Satoru Gojo, Yuji enrolls at Jujutsu High alongside classmates Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki. The season follows their training, battles against curses, and the Kyoto Goodwill Event, where they clash with students from the sister school. Along the way, we learn about cursed energy, domains, and the looming threat of Sukuna taking over Yuji's body. It's a mix of high-stakes action, humor, and emotional depth that sets the tone for the series.

## Season 2: Hidden Inventory and the Shibuya Chaos

Season 2, which aired in 2023, ramps up the intensity with two major arcs. First up is the "Hidden Inventory/Premature Death" arc, a flashback to Gojo's high school days. We see a younger, more arrogant Gojo teamed up with his best friend Suguru Geto on a mission to protect the Star Plasma Vessel, Riko Amanai. This arc explores themes of friendship, betrayal, and the burdens of power, revealing how Geto spirals into villainy after a tragic turn of events.

The second half dives into the "Shibuya Incident" arc, bringing us back to the present. Pseudo-Geto (a mysterious entity possessing Geto's body) orchestrates a massive attack on Shibuya, sealing Gojo away in the Prison Realm and unleashing hordes of curses. Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, and other sorcerers fight tooth and nail in brutal, non-stop battles. Highlights include epic showdowns like Yuji vs. Mahito and the devastating consequences that leave the jujutsu world in ruins. Season 2 ends on a cliffhanger, with Yuji declared a criminal and the stage set for all-out war.

## Season 3: Enter the Culling Game

Now, the moment we've all been waiting for—Season 3! Officially titled the "Culling Game" arc, this season picks up right after the Shibuya Incident. Without spoiling too much for anime-only viewers, the plot revolves around a deadly tournament orchestrated by the ancient sorcerer Kenjaku (aka Pseudo-Geto). Sorcerers and newly awakened curse users are forced into a battle royale across Japan, earning points by killing each other to survive. Yuji and his allies must navigate this chaos, rescue Gojo, and uncover deeper conspiracies involving ancient curses and the fate of humanity.

Expect even more intense fights, new characters with wild abilities, and emotional gut-punches that Jujutsu Kaisen is famous for. The animation from MAPPA studio promises to be top-tier, building on the stunning visuals of previous seasons. Season 3 Part 1 is set to premiere in January 2026, with episodes streaming weekly on Crunchyroll worldwide (excluding Asia), same day as Japan.

## Latest News and Related Buzz

The hype train is full steam ahead after today's fifth anniversary special livestream. Crunchyroll dropped the first teaser trailer for Season 3, showcasing brutal action and teasing the Culling Game's high stakes. Fans are buzzing about the visuals, with Yuji looking more determined than ever.

In addition to the season premiere, there's a worldwide theatrical release planned for November 7, 2025, featuring an advance screening of the Shibuya Incident arc crossed with Culling Game elements—perfect for reliving the drama on the big screen. Other announcements include a JJK Season 2 anime exhibition, a new original story for the mobile game JJK Phantom Parade, and JujuFest events to keep the community engaged.

On the manga front, Jujutsu Kaisen wrapped up its serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump back in September 2024, concluding with 30 volumes. Despite ending, it's still dominating sales charts as the best-selling manga of 2025 so far, outselling heavyweights like One Piece and My Hero Academia thanks to back catalog demand. Creator Gege Akutami has shared health updates hinting at a longer hiatus before any new projects, so fans might have to wait for his next masterpiece.

Related topics keeping the fandom alive include compilation films like the one for the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc announced earlier this year, and special events at conventions such as Anime Expo 2025, Anime Japan 2025, and an upcoming "next phase" reveal at NYCC 2025. Voice acting has been underway since earlier this summer, with teases from the cast about mind-blowing battles.

## Wrapping Up: The Curse Continues

Jujutsu Kaisen has evolved from a breakout hit to a cultural phenomenon, blending shonen action with deep philosophical undertones. With Season 3 on the horizon, 2026 is shaping up to be a stacked year for anime fans—right alongside other big returns like Fire Force and Frieren. Whether you're rewatching the first two seasons or diving into the manga, there's never been a better time to join the jujutsu world. What are you most excited for in the Culling Game? Drop your thoughts in the comments below, and stay cursed!

OK but for real I can't wait for Zen'in family massacre as well as Maki's upcoming fights. Especially the sumo one because I'm interested how they're gonna animate that one page.

Ah, that series that isn't written by a total Fujoshi.
No siree.

Based upon the fact that it's obviously female-audience centric and all the girls that could be love rivals to the yaoi are killed off

Im confused. Are you talking about Jujutsu Kaisen?

Honestly, bromance is so popular in these shounen titles, the yaoi allegation might not be entirely unfounded. lmao.

Im okay with that tho. 😎😉
