It would be a good end. The story already had its biggest climax (confession) and right now it's on a crossroads. It can either follow the current climax (talk about future) as a beginning of their long dating arc or resolve it as the final act of the series, leaving us with denouncement.

What I'm saying is that we passed the peak tension already, so the story can either continue to unwind into denouncement or pick up pace into a new arc. Honestly, both are good.

I don't want it to end up like "Hitomi-chan is shy with strangers", with the story resolving all of its main conflicts and basically spending time just coasting on fuzzy fillings without any shenanigans that made it fun before.

"Aw. Are you sure you won't do that? That's a shame!"
Someone's hoping she'll get home with her work outfit.

Nah, that's not a weird thought if he's already arrived at thinking she'll be an idol. That's what the idol industry is like.

When she plans ahead, she plans ahead.

I like their relationship now. They're comfortable with each other, and even if there's tension it doesn't spiral out of control. Much.

I think they've been married for years and only just now realized it
They just forgot to sign the papers.

Guys I saw the Landlady is dying of wholesomeness outside
I thought she already croaked.

I would argue there hasn't really been any tension in the series up to now. It's basically a SoL that focuses on a couple of idiots. Nothing really needs to change after they start dating, get engaged, etc. Just have them keep being idiots who get embarrassed when they talk about their feelings.

I'd counter argue that them realising their feelings and confessing was the most tension filled arc in the series. Basically, the main mountain of tension making for the climax of the story.

This. People used to get frustarted when a romcom would end at the confession/kiss/dating, and cheer whenever a series dared to go longer. But we've had about a decade of the post-dating meta, and I can say that a lot of those series would have been better served just ending earlier. The authors rarely have a plan for the story after the characters hook up, and watching the two leads "be cute together" gets old quicker than you'd think - especially in a scenario like this where they've basically been dating for ages. There's something to be said for ending on a high note, instead of dragging it out until everybody is bored.

(btw the word is "denouement", "denouncement" makes it sound like they're headed for a bad end lol)

I totally agree. The way this manga has gone, you could drop these two goofballs in any situation and nothing would really change. You could have them be married 10 years with two kids and the actions would basically be totally the same. They're going to be mindless idiots with each other forever, doesn't matter if they're married or dating or are grandparents!

Thanks for the TL note at the end. I was going to put it into jisho.org; I had already guessed it was some yankee/delinquent reference, but definitely wouldn't have known the specifics.
