i know that the katana is used a lot as a high tier or mythic item and such.

BUT it makes sense for the fact of how culturally significant it is. it's like making fun of england fiction that uses a broadsword or Excalibur. or claymore for scotish or any other culture that has similar. heck may as well complain a western or american where everyone uses winchesters and cult 6 shooters....or mobsters using tommy guns .

I'm starting to get the feeling that dariel is gonna end up being the kid of a demon and a human, with the aura of a human and the magic power (but inability to use magic in itself) of a demon, thus making him the perfect blacksmith too (need magic to work the oven).

Well, westerns are based off of a time period where there literally was only those kind of guns, and almost always those brands, if they could have had a shotgun, then they would have. I do get your point though.

On a side note, why does it always have to be a common melee weapon? When will we get an MC who uses a sling, sai, kama, or a javelin? Hell even a crossbow or a harpoon gun would be a refreshing change.

MAYBE, he needs an umbrella?

@JavelinJoe there were all kinds of guns in the western us era. its just colt and winchester were the most famous and maybe the most prevalent. maybe cause of movies mostly, but go read the Louis L'amour short story "Mistakes Can Kill You" showed this in his notes. cant remember which short story collection it was in...

i would also like to see more unique weapons too
