Well this sucks. WTF is the point of showing the two main characters liking each other if the FMC is just going to fall in love with someone else?

If anybody has read the upcoming raw chapters, does female mc start to fall in love with this new guy and loses interest in her childhood friend, because that’s what it looks like from the pages but can’t understand Japanese.

This is just annoying to read now.
>gets serialized
>the manga that was once a cute lovey-dovey romcom is now full of NTR bait drama
I hate this trend. It's like these mangakas are clueless about how to develop the story, so they just add random ass NTR bait halfway through.

Why do romcoms where the two leads are obviously 100% into each other even bother with love rivals (plural because it's always one for the boy and one for the girl)? What's the point of a love triangle that is already solved? To waste the readers' time?
If you want a serious answer: A lot of people like these tropes.
It’s not just in romcoms and pure romance, but also in dramas (like telenovelas, J-dramas, K-dramas) where sudden love rivals are common, even when the main couple is like, one step away from entering a relationship.

In general, people who dislikes certain tropes are more vocal than those who likes them, but they're tropes for a reason.
Take the complaints about harems, for example. If everyone were THAT tired of the tropes that plague the genre (especially with how hard Reddit makes it seem like everyone is tired of them), a manga like 100Kanojo, one of the most original harems recently, would have sales on par with Kanokari... but alas, it is what it is.

Apparently Japanese reader reeeeally love NTR bait?
Wait until you hear about Koreans and Latinos.

Thank you for the update!

So, will he (she?) gonna be rival, either for she or he, or both?

It’s 99.9999999% editor intervention :02:

Before serialisation the mangaka would have storyboarded a dozen or two chapters in advance as part of the pitch so that’s usually left untouched.

But once the initial run is complete it typically get some “input and feedback” from the editor after that to try and “improve sales”. You know the end result

Apparently someone who has already seen the next chapters (raw of course) said :

The new guy is not a rival, just someone Ibuki is going to relate to.
Alright, knowing this I think we should all take a deep breath now, and at least wait for a little while.
Where there is hope there is cope as they say.

You guys have to relax and give this new guy a chance. He might be the push needed for Tomo and Ibuki to finally stop skirting around each other and meet at the middle

As long as the guy joins the train for Ibuki to get with Tomo its all good! I'm hoping Tomo misunderstands and uses that to realize how he feels
