It's kinda crazy how there's just an entire story about a global civilization collapse and the uprising of this new vampire society. Like, that whole bit about "old human relics" getting demolished is so fascinating. I'm not sure if exploring what happened is in the scope of the story, or if it should be, but it's definitely a captivating setting.
