Now this is a proper light novel adaptation. Skipping scenes so that it doesn't feel cohesive and leaves the reader a bit confused. Perfect textbook example.

people complaining about skipped parts don't see how meta the story is.
it's told from satella's perspective.
what she doesn't see gray doing the story doesn't show.
if you want to know what happened you can read the main manga.
it tells gray's story up to the point where they leave the village on a carriage and get attacked by bandits.
pretty sure this manga will show it because satella's there.
