Damn the anime adaptation of this part is so much worse. They completely removed the bracelet part, turning the fight from a struggle to save his student into just a pointless dick measuring contest. There's so many ways in which the adaptation is failing the source material.

i know right?! That steam explosion is so goddamn cool, it's so interesting to see her using water, ice, and fire magic in combination with each others to create different attacks, then in the anime it's just "here are some fire balls, some ice cubes, and to finish it off a black hole because why not"
This isn't actually the source material, this and the manga are actually adaptations of a light novel. I've never read the novel so I don't know if the anime is just more "accurate" than the manga though.

The fight in the manga was so many levels above the anime adaptation.

It doesn't matter who she is, she attacked you with lethal force. Ignore what she says, force the location of your student out of her, and then kill her. Like, if someone starts shooting at you on the street and then says he's the head of the Secret Service. Does it matter? Hell no, he still opened up on you, pump him full of lead.
