This is one of the series that I hate of the sudden plot twist. Beware its gonna get rough.
If I remember it correctly and if this manga is going to follow the story as WN, its gonna be a hell on chapter/volume 1. I don't know what the fuck the author is thinking but he kills the MC's family (the one he is serving atm) for some reason. MC went nuts and destroy the whole region if I'm correct. Its probably one of those unnecessary plot twist for MC to awakening his true power and move on to the independency. Its been years so I kinda forget the reason why the noble was killed...

I like it until now, and well:
Im fine with some hurting deaths and so, if they properly set up the story, if they are killed of just because its shit, but if its leading to something it can be fine, so i guess i have to see :D

Came over here to just comment on how damaging the storyboard pacing is to the rest of the work... like I'd rate this 7 or 8, but the pacing drops it to 6 at best.

Then saw what others said what happens in the novels later on... drops my rating down to 3 or even 2 if this manga goes that route.

Goddammit I hate when author pull that kinda crap. Like do they just hate telling happy stories? Pacing is already shitte enough, gotta ruin the core story as well? 🤬

read the spoilers. If it's starting to get like this, dropping it immediately.

I read the spoilers and checked raws (the raws only go a couple chapters beyond current). I am a little surprised by the turn for what has been so far, a light hearted slice of life.

Raws stop after some fat noble is eaten and it appears some little girl is next (maybe eaten, not clear w/o trans) along with his entire house save the princess. Spoilers clearly tell that they die and he gets revenge by destroying the city or country but not much more. I wouldn't mind the revenge part but I hope this doesn't completely turn into a revenge fantasy, there's enough of that shit and it doesn't fit here. Also maybe someone could clear up the events better?

Edit: Raw for chapter 8 was released just after I posted this. Hugely disappointed in the direction this is going. Typical shounen/seinen where the protag is a thoroughly useless until it doesn't matter and then he suddenly gets a huge rage boost when it least matters. HUGE SPOILER: The female lead to this point dies and I am pretty much out.

sad it feels like my brain got hurt whe seeing a

# 34 years old man, with proper education, got good job, and also look like a planing role or something in his workplace. but...

# transferred to another world into a young body of 6 years old kids and luckily have a memory intact. but become a slave.

and here my complain that lead me to drop this shit.

-He act like a kid but not because he pretend to be like that so people will not suspicious on him. He does that as if he has didn't ever reach adulthood and has no knowledge about it. It was a like a natural kiddo.

-The expression that the author show about this kid is like a whimp kid with no goal. and yes the Kid act like what SLAVE did, feels like a puppet with emotions but has no goal.

Rather than saying this a Isekai Barrier master, i prefer to call this a Slice of shit peace life.

it just didn't fit the background and the fact of this Person who was 34 years old with experience of modern life and proper knowledge to act like he has amnesia and all the past memory just a dream.

rather than making this an isekai, its better to just reset all of this and called fantasy.

@Christopher

yeah i read the light novel a while back until it stopped translating.
*Overarching Spoilers for the first 3 arcs *

TL:DR he turns into a mass murderer after his family gets executed and destroys the country.
Afterwards it returns to being happy go lucky slice of life. the revenge plot is only part of the first arc as he kills everyone at the end of it.
Everything in between the things i mention bellow is character building, introducing new characters, or progressing the story while being light hearted for the most part.

First arc ends with everyone in his "family" gets killed off and he turns into a "Demon lord" ( by killing 10.000+ people) resulting in him murdering almost everyone in the country other then the lucky few who escaped his transformation.
He then escapes into the forest, living the as a hermit because of his depression and his demon lord aura/bloodlust scaring everyone to death for a while until he finds a unicorn who is getting attacked by soliders whom he saves out of pitty starting the 2nd arc.

This leads him to leave the forest, return to civilization( in another country )alongside the unicorn disguised as a horse. ( Because barriers can be used to make illusions by bending light....yeah.... )
and a fox who works for a god(there are more then one ) that gave him the power to speak to animals, hide his aura and explaining the skill system in more detail.
Because the gods themselves now fear what he could turn into if he stayed evil as killing people is a good way to get stronger but it also turns you into a mindless monster eventually.
the fact he did NOT turn into one after killing 10.000 people is what makes him scary to them, as a mindless monster is alot less scary then a smart one.

The second arc starts with him setting up a shop with the help off the heirlooms and money from his family and the huge powerboost he got from turning into the demon lord.
after he stopped being a moody little wanker thanks to your friendly neighbourhood prostitutes ( he actually befriends them, not paying for "services").
there is alot of stuff inbetween like for example him saving some orphans who he later on hire to run the store for him because....
The arc ends with him getting a peice of land and turning into a nobel because of his contributions to the country. ( and seducing the princess )

The third arc starts with him saving the only remaining village on his land from a bunch of bandits who turns out to be his own people from other villages who are starving to death caused the land have turned barren from too much salt in the earth.
This arc is all about him restoring the land, city / country building with a lot of worldbuilding and also a few extra members to the harem ( well i guess you have at least one in every arc ).
Because everyone needs a harem right ?

but yeah i did some overarching explanations to the plot but there is alot of minor plot points inbetween and stuff to fill out the story.
its actually not a bad story all in all but its far from perfect, my biggest gripes that i can remember was the fact the story was super slow at times and the generic conplaints that comes with the typical isekai harem mangas.
its abit like "Isekai Tensei Soudouki" in that regard.
still, its worth the time reading if only to pad out your reading list until your favorite manga gets an update.
7 / 10 for being a decent read if a bit generic.

everyone dies so he stops being a butler after the first arc.
the fact he was going to be free after they died was a huge flag for a chekhov's gun moment

Haha. Isn't that all isekai basically? Thanks for the spoilers (not sarcasm).

The plot twist I have read from the spoilers seem to be the only reason to keep watch of this

Welp, here's the one for all the people who complain that fantasy should be "more like medieval society".

Slavery, pre-teen marriage and rape, and physical abuse are all taken in stride as part of the background—even when things get cheery, and even sometimes almost slice-of-life-ish, in the foreground.

Honestly it's pretty rough to read. The mood whiplash overall averages out to a baseline of a sort of gritty-seinen feel. It's not comfort food at all.

...

But with all that in mind, why the hell is this an isekai? What the heck is the point of an isekai like this? If you're going to go all painful-truths-of-the-past, why use the self-insertion-fantasy genre?!

As a result, this isn't mindlessly entertaining, like a self-indulgent isekai would be—but it isn't thought-provoking, like a serious and sincere take on the issues would be either. No stellar writing, artistry, or world-building is here to make the world convincing; it still feels a bit flat and mass-produced as isekai settings are wont to.

It seems like the worst of both worlds.

So I assume the author is just a nerd who likes his medieval values to be "more accurate" on the principle of it. Well, I suppose there's a certain arguable virtue in that, but...

...I can't decide whether it's the author that's missing the point, or I.

Edit after reading spoilers, contains spoilers:
Oh. We're headed for a whole bunch of revenge fantasy? That does makes sense, I guess. Maybe I should have guessed that by myself.

I'll just drop this in a dumpster then. A plot that wants to get me attached to characters over a long period just to kill them and try to make me mad about it? And this is supposed to be entertaining. I guess I was raised way too hippie to sit back and enjoy people getting slaughtered (be it by the villains or the protagonist).

This is shit...I pretty much wanted only one thing
Eris not dying...but NOoOo, author san had to kill her ffs
I think it only got published for the route it took, and that not many (if not any at all) ln
kill the female lead
....
fuck you author-san, he only had one job a single and easy job....
I don't dislike dark themes but you do not start giving a happy go lucky story and then turn it into this....

....
Pls just ignore my comment I had to vent myself.

Holy shit, spoilers were appreciated. Glad I can end this series here on a light note before it goes south.
