@Cerein I wouldn't be surprised; Kaede survived long enough with part of his brain missing for Robara to revive him, so i don't see why a missing eye and near-decapitation by fist would be enough to permanently kill Hinata with Robara standing right there.

Edit: Thought providing a character a flashback with Freudian excuses for all misdeeds is a pretty common death flag.

Hell yeah, I've been waiting for this chapter to get translated.

And holy hell, was I not disappointed. Not only did we get great character development, but a shit ton of feels this chapter as well.

Tanuki man survived because Tanuki be like that, but I was not expecting the girlfriend to die. If she does, then it means the one thing she wanted will never get fulfilled and he will always be alone. Damn.

@BalrogDeMorgoth Cat's and water spirits aren't sapient. The potential for a cat to become sapient does not make it sapient. Also who the hell eats cats?

@Tamerlane ... I'm confused here, who is "Tankui"?
If you're talking about Inugami, the word you're looking for is "tanuki"!

I think I give the Oni a partial pass on the "eating humans" thing, as they are apparently obligate predators; for whatever reason, they are either biologically or spiritually required to consume human flesh to survive. Since it is either that or death and nobody wants to die, they came up with "animal husbandry" as a solution, though in the past they probably either raided or extorted sacrifices from human villages. I'd bet anything that the big guy would be all for any solution that eliminated this need and didn't result in extinction. Apparently this is not a requirement for foxes though, and even considered aberrant behavior in modern times if Umetaro and Hinata are any indication, so only Umetaro still seems to be relatively in the clear from a moral standpoint- but we still don't know what he owes Nobimaru for, so that might change.

@Mewth doubtful boyfriend will probably unleash his true madness to save her or kabane/crew will probably let him heal her.

Hinata said she found Robara on a bed made of his dismembered mother, I’m assuming that’s it.

@Alhazred23
Hinata ate some of the ogre “products” a few chapters ago so I wouldn’t say she is against eating people (nor are the other kitsune)

@ppp Hinata isn't above doing it, but she seems convinced that she's going to hell for the things she's done so I'm pretty sure she thinks it's morally wrong- and Umetaro clearly thinks that killing people is wrong regardless of whether or not you eat what you kill. His horror at the whole conversation and everyone around him was pretty clear this chapter.

Onis are indeed confirmed to eat human meat to survive, also all kemono races described in the extras are said to be omnivores. But onis especially need human meat. So it's biological.
Nobimaru is paying Ume's debt (he lost a huge sum at some illegal casino)

June issue comes out on May, 2nd. SQ monthly issues are named ahead for some reason.

jump SQ 's June issue comes out on May 2nd : https://jumpsq.shueisha.co.jp/sq/yokoku.html

the reason : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cover_date

" the standard practice is to display on magazine covers a date which is some weeks or months in the future from the publishing or release date.

There are two reasons for this discrepancy:

first, to allow magazines to continue appearing "current" to consumers even after they have been on sale for some time (since not all magazines will be sold immediately),

and second, to inform newsstands when an unsold magazine can be removed from the stands and returned to the publisher or be destroyed (in this case, the cover date is also the pull date). "

I find so much of the chapter presented as if intended to evoke sympathy for some creepy murder-fetishist who makes human sculptures and his girlfriend who instead of trying to get him into some kind of therapy/rehab wants everyone else to "accept" him doing that to them... insulting. Not happening, they're garbage.

Is Robara gonna go cray-cray now? Since the one person who was sorta keeping him "mildly" "sane" is possibly dead 🤔

doubt she's dead. glue that shit together, she'll be right as rain. or something

@BalrogDeMorgoth @messeyo
I'm honestly not sure. He doesn't seem to have any kitsune traits at all, physical or otherwise. We've never seen any powers or abilities from him other than severing and reattaching. I'm not even sure what the deal is with the glue, since it obviously isn't limitless (he said there isn't enough glue for all the heads). In the flashback, hii says she's the strongest kitsune around. that could just be like 'strongest guy/kid/etc around' or it could be about kitsune specifically.
re: transformation powers: he seems to only be able to transform other things. but i guess we'll find out soon

@nanze
maybe relax, i'm just saying in terms of the setting. they way they, themselves describe it is that humans are livestock. The vast majority people don't feel bad about killing and eating livestock, even though they're capable of experiencing thought, emotions, and pain. Most are in favor of 'humane conditions' because it makes them feel better about it (that's a whole real world topic let's skip over), and the oni here seem to be more of that bent.

also, i realized maybe megijima keeps saying devil because of the demon/oni thing????

@nobaka IIRC "demons" are a subgroup of Kemono that must consume humans for sustenance. Known Kemono types in this subgroup include Oni, Vampires and Ghouls. How much of their diet must consist of humans varies. Oni seem to get by with including a small amount of human flesh in processed meat products that are mostly composed of more traditional ingredients. Vampires obviously consume blood and may not need much of it if Mihai is any indication, so they might even get away with not killing their prey. Ghouls eat human corpses, but the readers of this don't yet know how much they must eat because Kabane's need is suppressed by the calculus he has.

"Devil" on the other hand is just used to mean "evil bastard" here.

Another trait that demons seem to share is supernatural strength. The non-local demons (ghouls and vampires) also share regeneration, though it is unknown if Oni have this as well.

Robara is a kitsune. I doubt Inari would allow a non-kitsune work for her. Ume doesnt have any physical kitsune traits as well(but has this weird illusion power thats different from the 'usual' illusions), some prefer to keep their human look while others, like Kon and Kaede, go wild easily.
I think the reason he looks like a human is because he and Hii-chan seemed to grow up in a human-like kitsune(?) society.

Umetarou is also well-accustomed to the human society, so he's the most 'human'-like. On the other hand, both Kon and Kaede grew up in the wild.
^from the extras

Roba's powers: He's a genius. Unlike Inugami's transformation, Roba's has 'durability' - meaning, that the transformed thing itself has no problem keeping the form after, well, transformation (For example, Inugami and others can't keep the transformed things in such state for a long period of time). Inugami uses his 'will' to transform something into something, so his transformations break easily when he's away. Like the transformed Life Calculus from the earlier chapters. Roba's glue is not connected to his will.
^also from the extras
I think its better to say there's two types of transformation: the one that every kemono can do (they transform into their human/kemono forms) and the other is the speciality of tanuki (and Robara) (transforming something into something)
And yes, Megijima says akuma - devil (as in, western thing) to differentiate from oni ('demon').
