Like...I understand those 3 might believe they're still spectators....but considering the lenghts they go to follow the 2 lovebirds, my blood boiled at their slowness in realizing they could "help" somewhat while still acting like strangers/spectators....even tho they are not simple spectators anymore

Ah yes, that’s a good one. There used to be a pair of Starbucks literally diagonal to each other in NYC (Astor place), one of them inside the old Cooper Union campus and the other one sitting next to the subway station (one of the very few late night Starbucks locations in the area) - the one inside the campus closed down when the area was redeveloped while the one outside the subway station was down for a few years due to renovations - although you could say that engineering grad students stumbling through their thesis at 3a probably has as much mental coherency as someone with Alzheimer’s, and that’s assuming that they are not dealing with acute alcohol poisoning from St. Marks place (a street known for Japanese bars and etc) or the Ukrainian village down the block.

Also, eeeeh, having multiple coffee shops around the same train station is a very Japanese thing, considering that the busier ones downtown are essentially huge retail hubs with food halls, restaurants, shops and department stores with multiple exits opening up to multiple developments - Hiroshima alone has at least 7 coffee shops along its main train station complex, and that’s a mid-size Japanese city of only about 1 million people. Go somewhere like Shinagawa or Nakano and that’s an entire city all its own.
