Wasn't it "A programmer at a big company"? I mean, to be a programmer in a big company nowaday is not as easy as you would like to think. But to be fair, the rank of the programmer can really varies, from "The company can't run without you" to "You're just another skilled labor."

i mean, i knew japan stigmatises the weirdest of things, but that just seems straight up illogical considering how sought-after the position is here in the west.

i do both on a daily basis, there's a fairly important system that would probably fail were i not here to take care of it but there's another system that we also work on that probably wouldn't even hitch if i were gone lmao

it's just that I feel easier to just say that I am a Software Engineer or System Engineer because it's in my job title
I don't think your job title will be a programmer unless you are a contract (temp) job
and even if I were one, if I were to introduce myself to my girlfriend's family, much less her uncle, I would've just say I'm an employee in this so-and-so company
