Kisaragi-San really does look beautiful with her piercing gaze. Satou's quite the man to bring her out of her shell and see her with it for so long.

I'm sad this ended so quickly. Well, at least what we had was really good! The shenanigans and the story was super funny and heartwarming.

Japanese weebs have bad taste, that's why
Spittin. So sick of Manga and Anime industry being based of the tastes of the fucking degen Japanese weebs that would rather read a fucking slave harem Isekai 50 times than an original story once.

Man this is ending and Kubo just ended. Slice Of Life romcom bros how will we continue. Also any recommendations from people? Assume I've read anything popular that's like Nagatoro/Anjou/This/Kubo. But if there's any good underground ones I'd love to hear it.

With the way the firework confession panned out I can't say I'm not happy to see it getting axed, because holy fuck how much lamer can you get? Firework interrupting confession? Been done so many fucking times already. Almost deserved the axe that is to come.

Lets be real, it probably doesn't help that a big portion of the audience that likes this manga is reading it for free in another country...sad to see the series go :( I wanted to see more of Kisaragi's beautiful younger brother too
There's no official English release and, honestly, Japanese publishers don't place much value on overseas sales because it's a drop in the bucket.

Even if everyone that followed this manga on Mangadex went out of their way to buy Japanese volumes (which is a pain in the ass, by the way, as I have done it to support the mangaka before despite me not being able to read a lick of Japanese)... I guarantee you still wouldn't have made a dent or impressed the publication over in Japan.

The Japanese will never say no to free money, but they view accommodating overseas markets to be a waste of time due to very outdated thinking (and that's not a Japanese-only thing - as you can see with cable broadcasting and newspapers in America wanting to pretend that they're still relevant and still the mainstream). That's why they license works instead of actually doing it. Someone else assumes the risk and if they get money, fine, but they don't give a fuck about it.

Which is absolutely god damn frustrating because it ends up with us waiting 5-10 years for officially licensed English releases (... if at all in some cases) which by then is too little and too late. And I wish I could just sit down with Japanese publications and tell them, "Buddy, you know more people that know English read fan-translated manga outside of Japan than people read Japanese-language manga in Japan, right? And all we want are timely releases in English. Do that and we'll give you money. Lots of it." But, no. "We make manga for Japan, if the westerners end up reading it later that's great but we aren't going to cater to them."

And all these Japanese companies would have to do is look at something like Hololive where even the tiniest amount of accommodation to English/overseas fans earns you tons of cash and you have to wonder where the hell their backwards-assed outdated thinking comes from. But, then again, while new things like digital work has entered the manga scene... how much as the actual manga-industry changed in the last... say, 50 years? Not a whole hell of a lot at the base level.

Sorry for your loss, the art was great but unfortunately Japan prefers isekai garbage...

Personally I dont think Japan should ever cater to Westerners at all considering how toxic and censorious western "fans" can be when it comes to manga (cough cough Twitter)
But I 100% agree that Japan needs to get their head out of their rectum and realize that people are tired of two things: bad translations, and slow as hell releases.

If nobody did a TL for this nobody would even know of it, also you can't control Japan's often horrible tastes

I'm pretty sure it's just the best way that was available to do a rushed ending, but I'm really disappointed with how many stories mainly based on a romance end on a confession. There're entire series that focus on a dating or even married couple. Just feels lazy to me to drag out will-they-won't-they and then end as soon as that's done.

Danger in my heart- assuming you’ve seen it but if not this is my top recommendation of the bunch. Boy with inferiority complex meets outgoing girl. After about 24-27 chapters it really hones in on the two and they really bond with each other. Sounds like a lot of chapters but each chapter is only around 12-14 pages so it’s a nice read.

Sweat and soap- really good office romance with great progression of their relationship (also it’s completed). Fyi it has some light smut nothing major but if you don’t like that then maybe avoid this. The author did do an afterword one off chapter which is basically full blown smut though iirc.

Super baby- gyaru & nerdy guy romance only a few chapters out currently, not sure if it’s on bato only atm. Very sweet romance

Telework yotabanashi- same author who did sweat and soap, same as super baby only a few chapters out but they generally do good quality work so I have high hopes for it. About two people who live next to one another.

Neko to kiss- more shoujo than the rest I’ve put down simply because I like it, not much to say about it though it’s quite generic for a shoujo outside it’s one niche quirk, except that the ML and FL kiss a lot.

Oh Holy!- this one’s a WEBTOON, it’s a little anxiety inducing for a while as the main two keep having amnesia but after a bit it’s not an issue. It does actually have a plot so it’s not just romance but the Fl tries to make romance every chance she gets. If you prefer just focused romance maybe don’t read this first.

There are probably more I could recommend but I can’t think of any rn. Not all are necessarily slide of life as in a new chapter is a new beginning sort of thing but it’s what I prefer, romance that actually progresses forward at a reasonable pace. Hope you find something new to read

Also all these carry on after they get together so dw about that, I also hate when it ends after they get together.

Noooo not this soon!
This is such a wholesome love story of which I've always appreciated the pacing especially, a rushed ending here is really the worst.

Akaku Saku Koe- this is an old one from 1998 by Yuki Midorikawa (the author of Natsume’s book of friends). It’s a very cute drama/romance between a girl who is determined to have a boy whose voice is hypnotic. Completed and only 14 chapters.

In the clear moonlit dusk-it’s similar to Kisaragi-san, the whole romance with a masculine-looking woman concept. The difference is this one is more shoujo, tropey, and frustrating. More payout though.

You and I are polar opposites- the title explains itself. A hyper gyaru-type girl is smitten with this shy, nerdy guy because of his confidence in himself. It’s cute.

Wake up sleeping beauty- this one isn’t particularly similar to Kisaragi-san, it’s just good. A romance between a girl with multiple personalities and the boy who cleans her house. It’s completed and only 26 chapters.

Love of Kill-I’m not sure if it matches your taste, but I can’t not recommend it. It’s an enemies to lovers josei about hitmen.

Try "My girl" and "Watashi no shounen". They're not too focused in the romance aspect (at least not the former), but they both have pretty good writing and thought put into it when approaching their respective themes.

Oh ffs, this godawful trope again... How the fuck were they having a normal conversation before if it was loud enough to drown out the confession?
