Fantasy aside, this is even further divorced from reality when you take into consideration that the Japanese criminal justice system only acts when they are virtually assured the changes will stick and are very draconian in those few instances. The officers involved in the arrest have little influence over the ruling.

@OsseinMarrow "Fantasy aside" Dude half of their cops are youkai, I'm pretty sure they aren't human enough to screw up the justice system in the first place.

I can't believe people are going in on the author with all this moral whiteknighting and assumptions about the authors intentions. It's just a darn shounen story for crying out loud.

@Hitspark You are awfully convinced about the author. Can you read his/her mind or do you think your grades in English class constitute a perfect ability to grasp the theme of a Japanese manga?

This is all rhetorical. And honestly I'm not all that interested in your answer. >_> You have zero intention of rethinking your opinion, will bring an attitude with your response and think that any opinion other than yours is an attempt to defend an agenda opposite yours.

Is what I assumed. Did it feel good to read that? That I assumed everything about you when I don't know you at all? Also a rhetorical question, try not to take it literally. I just FEEL like that's what you're doing to the author. I could be wrong though, since I'm not stubborn, opinionated and persistently fixated on morally policing a comic aimed at teenagers in a comment section. I know how to discuss an answer different from my own.

But this is mangadex, it would be too naive for me to expect the latter to be reciprocated. Alas, here I am doing just the opposite. Let's see how this plays out.

@knight_evangel I've never had anyone make a comment so long just to say "I don't like what you wrote and disagree with you" before.

Mangadex truly is a place of places.

All it comes down to is the fact that the way the police act, how the arc turned out and the circumstances of the arc broke suspension of disbelief for some people. Myself included, obviously. I'm free to vent my frustration in that regard without having to "discuss" it with you, that's just my right as a human being and a user of this site. I've stated my reasons for my dislike of the arc and what it brought in great detail, as well as my reasons for believing what I do about the authors intentions and there's really nothing else to say. If you've got a problem with it and would like to know why in further detail, for some reason, then I'd suggest not trying to strike up that conversation with the contextual tone of self-righteousness and superiority. If you're simply trying to defend the series then don't bother because you are correct in that my opinion will not change.

T'was fun, please have a nice day.

Edit: clarity.

What a shit way to end this arc. Cops investigating hearsay and making arrests without proper evidence? Come the fuck on. This is 1000% the author trying to excuse a poorly written story. It's pretty clear to me that they can't write much in the way of anything but slice of life fluff, and got butthurt when they were probably called out on that. Most stories don't need 10-15 pages after the arc to explain why it all makes so much sense, and how the woman was "just as bad" as the murderers.

No jury or judge in any country on this planet would ever find her guilty of any crime. Hiring someone to scare another person is not illegal, even if the person you're hiring is a career criminal. End of story, so stupid.

@Anreon wtf did you read? they clearly stated that they have the evidence necessary to arrest them. The world right now its filled with BS. Justice is a mere word that only works on the powerless normal citizens while the corrupt reign with terror. In Chile, criminals can do whatever they want without consequences, from petty thiefs to politics stealing everyone's money to further increase their already ridiculous amount of money

Pretty sure a prison sentence is the end if you're an average person in Japan

Hell, even misdemeanors can mean you won't get hired ever
