I do like this reminder that Kanna is fundamentally inhuman. Sure she can share some common grounds with humans and co-exist with them, but there's a part of her that's never going to be the same. The other dragon-human pairs deal with this with both partners recognizing this and working together to resolve it, but Kanna's deception of Saikawa means that's not an option for them.
