I remember that meme about an otter reading Nisekoi
I've been reading this story for years kid.Yes. When you call something like this "pedo stuff" then you are obviously a tourist.
Seriously it's crazy how dumb this take is. "How dare you not enjoy every aspect of the manga". If I'm a tourist what's that make you? A shill?Yes. When you call something like this "pedo stuff" then you are obviously a tourist.
People that conflate drawings with pedophilia are mentally ill tourists. Period. No need to argue any furtherSeriously it's crazy how dumb this take is. "How dare you not enjoy every aspect of the manga". If I'm a tourist what's that make you? A shill?
"What is this filth?! DISGUSTING! HORRIBLE! ... ... more please."I've been reading this story for years kid.
Sure kid whatever you say. I will say people that react to someone's criticisms towards a work that has nothing to do with them in anger is more mentally ill imoPeople that conflate drawings with pedophilia are mentally ill tourists. Period. No need to argue any further
I made 1 comment about something I don't like in this series. Stop with these nonsense takes. I call bs that you've ever enjoyed something yet never complained about something in it."What is this filth?! DISGUSTING! HORRIBLE! ... ... more please."
I believe a clip from this movie applies.
EDIT: Also, if you've been complaining for literal years and it hasn't stopped CoolKyou from making more Lucoa/Shouta scenes, clearly whatever you've been doing isn't working. I believe most sensible people would've changed strategies by now.
And people can make comments about your comment. That's how discourse works. If you don't like engaging in discourse, then don't make a comment in a public forum. That's literally how the internet works. If you don't want discourse, don't leave comments. You'll survive not having your opinion seen. It's actually quite a relief realizing that, I say that with no sarcasm.I made 1 comment about something I don't like in this series. Stop with these nonsense takes. You've just said you've been engage with this fandom for years. Presumably you've not just started disliking this aspect of the series. It doesn't take a miracle detective to assume you've been thus complaining about it for all that time in various places. I'm not actually a megafan of this series, but I am a megafan of pointing out how impotent shouting into the void is.Also who said I've been complaining for years? My god I don't care that you like this but don't throw a fit just because not everyone else does. No need to be PR for a manga artist that doesn't know you and for a work you have no involvement in making.
I never you couldn't make a comment about my comment. If you're going to a comment don't assume things, because all that'll do is make an ass out of you when you're wrong. And people can make comments about your comment. That's how discourse works. Cards on the table: I don't personally like the Lucoa/Shouta thing either. I think it prevents me from sharing this series to more non-straight friends. But it's CoolKyou's thing and I've come to accept by now that's just what he's going to write. If it makes him happy, I'll be happy for him.
Go offline man, you X-d every comment that was critical of people somehow "missing" the explicit and questionable stuff for years until now and made several comments about it. You, I and every other reader know that deep down, we're all a bit degenerate for keeping up with this manga.I made 1 comment about something I don't like in this series. Why do you care though?Go offline man, you X-d every comment that was critical of people somehow "missing" the explicit and questionable stuff for years until now and made several comments about it. Basic pattern recognition at this point. If you're complaining about this now, it's reasonable to think you do it in other places. Not necessarily all public, could be DMs with friends or whatever. Also thank God you're not a cop or detective because how does one conclude following a series for awhile and making a comment about not liking something mean that person always does it?
I'm encouraging you to use the energy spent here to do something that effects change you want to see. If I see something I find displeasurable, I don't go to forums or social media to just exhale my frustrations and then just continue on impotently. Why not complain to CoolKyou personally? Not that I think he'll act on your feelings because -- again -- it's been years. I'm sure his mind is set on whether he wants to write this kinda stuff. Finally I don't get your point. You're saying it's dumb to shout into the void, but by your own logic of me constantly saying this wouldn't you be shouting into the void here by telling me to stop? What would you saying anything change now if you believe I've been saying these things for years?
I'm not that into this series. I barely comment about it, I don't talk to any of my friends about this series. Just because I followed it for years doesn't make me a super fan.Basic pattern recognition at this point. If you're complaining about this now, it's reasonable to think you do it in other places. This isn't just directed at you either, it's everyone on the MD forums who complains about a manga as if the author is ever going to see it (assuming they can easily read English even they did). Then those same people get mad when all that happens is discourse from people who disagree. It's a pattern I've been seeing a lot on MD forums.
And I'm definitely not shouting into the void, especially since you're clearly listening to me. As such I'm enjoying myself poking at the opinions of someone who is about 11 years late to the storm of hot takes that is/was the Lucoa/Shouta discourse. It's actively entertaining for me and it's making my night better. And hey, if I can potentially give you a new perspective, then I've done something good today. That's more a bonus objective though.
Of course if you're also enjoying this, I retract my statement.
Well, since you were nice enough to ask for my opinion I'm more than happy to give it. Criticism pretty much only has three functions as far as I can tell:Another thing that's off about your opinion is your stance on criticism. By that logic there's no point to critic anything. You don't like a meal? Well only complain to the cook. You don't like parts of a movie? Well say nothing unless you're talking to the director. You don't like a book? Keep silent unless talking to the author. Thats not how the world works.
I have to ask did you even read my original post? So much of what you're saying feels like you're just pulling stuff from out of nowhere. You sound like someone who's forming an opinion off next to no knowledge of what was originally said.Well, since you were nice enough to ask for my opinion I'm more than happy to give it. Criticism pretty much only has three functions as far as I can tell:
1. To inform the audience
2. To inform the creators
3. (optional) To entertain
Informing being whether it be informing the audience (a review) or inform the creator (a critique). Entertaining usually involving either incredible charisma, prose or comedic sense. That bit is for everyone. The best critics can do both.
I regret to inform you that you and pretty much anyone still complaining about Lucoa/Shouta in this forum are failing at both. An ice cold take about a really problematic aspect of a 11 year old manga deep in a forum thread that new readers definitely won't see is not succeeding at informing them. And obviously you're not reaching the author for reasons said above.
That leaves entertainment, which anyone can enjoy. Uhm, no. Aside from me who is enjoying these back and forths with you I don't think you're entertaining anyone. I realize that's just my opinion.
So I feel pretty confident in saying your criticism doesn't amount to much use beyond an impotent "I was here". Lots of people are satisfied with just that, they're all over this forum. If you are then I'll leave you alone now and even apologize for taking up your time with this back and forth.
But rest assured, yes, we all know Lucoa/Shouta is sketchy. We've known for years. Most of us accept it as the price of admission or even find it borderline amusing that it's still a thing after all this time. It's definitely not going away and it's going to continue to entertain certain people who like this sketchy content with or without our permission.
Fair enough. Did you think someone would answer "heck yeah! oneeshouta fan here woo!" ?I have to ask did you even read my original post? So much of what you're saying feels like you're just pulling stuff from out of nowhere. You sound like someone who's forming an opinion off next to no knowledge of what was originally said.
Nothing because I wouldn't careFair enough. Did you think someone would answer "heck yeah! oneeshouta fan here woo!" ?
If someone did, what would be your next move be?
