Nah, his father literally stole a book from the future in order to get rich. If that isn't self serving, I don't know what is. Shouta is strong, but he is still a kid trying to figure out his path in life, which does include selfish actions. The real difference between the two is one has more experience and wisdom while the other has a big tittied god/dragon familiar.

We also don't know much about the human side of the magic community, and while the story is pretty lighthearted, that is mostly thanks to Kobayashi. Given how much this pulls from mythology, and Shouta's dad implying that he would not help Shouta if Shouta summoned a familiar that was trying to kill him, I do not trust the wizards at all.

EDIT: Rather, I think this would be in character for the wizards (IE: Shouta's dad), but a big development for Shouta. It shows how much he cares about Lucoa, even if he is going about it the wrong way.

Page 2 is the best outfit for all the dragons. That should be the norm. Dragon mommy showing up as a passing mention is interesting, and I can't wait for yet another deceptively dumb dragon to join the cast.

Also, who's the dark dude? I don't recognize him, and I don't remember Tezca having a handler or ally aside from the trio of idiots.

Going with her human appearance and how her horns look, Im guessing she a Chinese Long/Lung type dragon, so having a slender build sorta fits well.
