Fumi literally didn't do anything wrong. Imagine essentially cutting a relationship off and thinking he would come back and "save" them in their time of need after the fact.
She didn't want to cut the relationship off, she kinda just went with his wishes by wishing to stay in the industry, and not getting too close (since she thought he was not interested. After all, she only blocked him after realizing he wouldn't actually come to see her (after all was said and done). She was interested in more than friendship, and I guess that was her test. Def not the best way to do things, but him not even seeing or calling her signalled that he doesn't care.
He should've gone to see her, but he was too worried about his own social/work life. I'm disappointed, but all this was kinda foreshadowed from the beginning.

I want to cut him some slack and I really want to understand the conundrum he found himself into, but at the end of the day it was all lack of balls, he both didn't do anything wrong and he did everything wrong.
This is my best feelings on the matter. Sure, going over to her place whilst people were watching may have been risky, but he could've at least waited until the low-life paparazzi gave up stalking her premises, whilst texting or somehow communicating to her that he was going to come over, it's just that if he did at that very moment, things would just become worse for her with the public.

He lost a damn good woman, and I'm not just saying this because she's a hot, busty idol. She was a genuine, authentic, down-to-earth girl.

Speaking of, why the hell is this jailbait Ayano the main FMC of this series? It should've been Akari, their backstory has enough potential to stand on its own as its own manga.

if she confessed to him and then he doesn't answer, I'd get it, but she hasn't told him

Akari technically did not confess. But she said she wanted to move their relationship to the next level and Fumi changed the subject.

there was literally nothing he could do about the current situation

Call? Text? Email? Literally anything except abandoning her.

If Fumi and Akari had gotten their story straight, I'm sure even Japan's idol-loving culture would understand that her father was dying and he was there to support her.

he both didn't do anything wrong and he did everything wrong

Rather than being 'right' or 'wrong', I think Akari put it best when she described Fumi as being selfish.
