Holy shit, what a dumpster fire of an ending that was. Of course Koharu is handed the happy ending, just like how she's been spoon fed everything in her life. She's still the robot that i mentioned she was in the previous chapters, just waiting in Japan for her prince charming to come to her like the world owes her.

Also, notice how even though Yousuke goes on about his dream and how he achieved it, theres not even a mention on what Koharu has accomplished, other than sitting on her hands and calling Yousuke a liar for chasing his dreams. If only the series ended on the previous chapter, like @Shory_Circut said. I rather get a decent bitter ending than a fake sweet one.

Wow, what an ending. Likewise, I agree that this shouldn't have been happy in light of recent developments.

I would've loved to atleast see Koharu initiate the romance for the first (and last?) time. Yousuke just handed his world to her without questioning anything. Good for a kids manga, I guess? But otherwise, this is way off. This is wrong on so many levels I've lost count.

Most of you are taking this lighthearted slice of life series way to seriously and if you think Koharu didn't even like Yousuke, you need to take a class on subtext. If you consider our two MC getting together as a foregone conclusion I kind of like that the last entire volume focuses on them growing up. The previous chapter foreshadows this one really well, the main problem is that the time skip is way to aggressive. This wasn't about a story about two lovers and their relationship, it was about two childhood friends who express their feelings differently. This ending is as contrived as the two family units who make up this plot; is it great, no, is it a little messy, yes, but it's nice and cute like it's always been.

So all the siblings from the 2 families marry each other.... that just feels so weird to me... like.... what????

@HawkGoggles I'm guessing that the author wanted to write a little bit more, but didn't have enough stuff for another volume... so it was cut short, but just barely...

@deathmailrock I don't see this ending being any different even with extra chapters seeing how this volume picks up right after the last chapter of the second one. This plot line of Yousuke going away and coming back was pretty much locked in for months. But maybe having more time they would have thought out the actually ending a little. Having Koharu confess or Youske comes back during her high school graduation.

@HawkGoggles I mean the actual number of chapters. These chapters need to fit in the space given for a volume, so if they need just one extra chapter more, they often won't get it.

That said, it can simply be a case where endings are just hard to get right and it probably looked better in the author's head... I feel the author kinda dragged the "what's he going to do" problem on too long and could have just sped that part up and focused more on giving a more decent end.

ok
so I'm gonna say something that I will probably be copy pasting into some other manga, as it's a recurring trope that I've come to see far too many times

for there to be a Romance tag, there needs to be a relationship, at least starting and not ending immediately after or just ignored by plot
you cannot shove a Romance tag there otherwise, absolutely not

this does not have any romantic relationship displayed, there is drama, there is slice of life, romance is absent
it's one of the reasons why unexperienced mangaka should not dabble into this
since the whole presumption of the manga is their relationship, not showing us a single chapter of romance, categorizes this as empty

and empty manga with a good art, poor pacing, far too many characters for a short length, not very creative as well
there is also a 'Comedy' tag, but that's probably a mistake, nobody is laughing, there are no jokes here

2/10

@havelmom Kinda agree with you on that one. I wouldn't score it so low but you're right. Basically, if they had skipped on the romance tag, this would've been a decent SoL. I feel like the manga gave me false expectations and then burst the bubble with each chapter. Maybe that's just me.

@HEXyren it's not that much of a stretch really
characters: lacking in depth, too many of them, there's even a twinsXtwins pair
pacing: strange, each chapter covers a different pair, but because there's so many of them (and they all look alike) it's kinda distracting to follow
comedy: non-existant
romance: non-existant
plot: story doesn't really present anything interesting, yusuke kinda had a "moving to italy" story at the end, but it goes nowhere since it's not even discussed or portrayed anyway, time-skip follows
art: good, gets some points, characters are too bland visually and look very similar however
I'd say 2/10 is very fitting
that's my opinion , it's just empty

I disagree, this is definitely a romance manga. The romance is portrayed clumsily and inconclusively, but is at the very core of the manga. People looking for a standard SoL would find themselves submerged by romance moments (whether they go anywhere is a whole other point). It might be a bad romance (ooh-la-ooh-la-la), but it's a romance.

That ending and time skip...😑 it’s fine if she waits for him, but maybe he could...talk to her?

I find it hard to believe they didn't talk for 6 years, lol. It's not like the story is set in the 80s-90s. They might have had, but not much, since they both were so tight-lipped about everything.

All in all, a decent and heartwarming manga. There are light comedy and romance elements, no doubt. Whether someone find those good enough is up to them. I had a good time reading this, personally.

It was a nice and warm manga to read, I love these Slice of life where we see how each member of the families has their roles, despite the fact that everything revolves around the middle children of each family, almost making us think that it would end something bittersweet.

Something that I did not like in this manga was Koharu, I do not dislike or like tsunderes, but Koharu exasperated me a lot by not being honest at all, despite her love for Yousuke, she felt a bad mood for not being praised by the hair clip , jealousy about senpai and loneliness being avoided by Yousuke in the end, but even so he could not answer him at the end of graduation, calling him a liar? when did he go to fulfill his dream? And that this dream is also to make her happy? We did not know if Koharu progressed from being indecisive in her career, but she seemed very unemotional, nor in 6 years did she change, Yousuke did, despite not looking like it, if he were not so devoted to her, anyone would have been rendered.

The manga could have ended in chapter 36 and have been one with a bittersweet ending, and as they say in my country "camaron que se duerme se lo lleva la corriente", but we did not see any initiative by Koharu, confession or sample of Affection in addition to holding hands (at last !!), even so, it was an acceptable ending, I loved Anzu and Souichi's wedding, it was finally given to Souichi.

With all honesty... that didnt quite made me as happy as i hope for (Sorry, Sou and Anzu im really for u guys tho)
Even now Koharu couldnt had a better reaction. Those tears do say a lot, but damn girl why u have to be so complicated. Thats a whole new lvl of Tsun. So frustrating.
The only end i hoped for was one where she would loudly say she loved him. Also, there was no reason not to tell her he was leaving back then.

At some point, i grew tired of Korahu behavior. She had few situations when her reactions showed she was hiding her true feelings for him, but most of the time was confusing since seemed like she didnt really cared that much. The thing with that senpai when she accepted quietly and also when Yousuke mother asked her if she would miss him and she genuinely didnt know, those really put me off. She was just "Oh well..." to a extent that really made things seemed rather unreasonable. Does she likes him? will she? Is that even possible at all? Kind of like her heart was Kuudere.

In a way i was a bit disappointed in regard of character development, since a lot happened but the MCs were exactly the same until the very end. None of the situations we've seen that could normally create a reaction had any real effect, only momentarily. Nothing changed or evolved after it. Plus, the other ships had not much development at all before the end.

So yeah, overall, this went really far from what i hope to see. The story was interesting but the progression was boring and somewhat shallow. Their daily lives were fun to see and most characters were interesting. But when u think that Anzu was by far a character lot more interesting than Koharu means that something went wrong here.
