There is something very twisted about this setting.
It may be the decades of watching people (offline and online) AND partaking of manga / anime that makes me suspect this... or possibly my cynicism...
... but this whole set-up seems like a sort of twisted wish-fulfillment fantasy for someone alone and desperate.
I mean lemme just put the parts together...
#1. She is described as beautiful and apparently perfect and popular, etc... things that people generally idealise... but not bespeaking of any particular focus nor special interests that might come about in someone with varied experience... She is peak normal.
#2. She also has this major barrier between herself and pretty much everyone else which stops them meaningfully interacting with her AND acts as a weakness to leave her vulnerable and also desperate for positive attention.
#3. The dull, boring, generic everyman protagonist (i.e. medium to low normal) bypasses this barrier of hers seemingly effortlessly... giving him a major advantage if he sought for whatever reason to... woo her, so to speak.
This just stinks of relationship cheat-mode AND a predator mind-set. I mean in theory the second part makes her gullible and particularly susceptible to any advances he might make on her, but while also locking out any potential competition... which should make it an effortless casual cruise. And of course the first factor because if you're going to cheat yourself an easy-mode relationship, why settle for anything less than optimum attributes?
Frankly it makes the mangaka seem like an incel. I'm probably wrong about that, but that is how it comes across.
