This chapter was rather frustrating. Probably because it started by dropping a bomb only to turn out to be a dud.

I think it should've taken this seriously. At least the same level when Manbagi and Komi were talking to each other at the stairs during the 2nd festival arc. Because this chapter just felt like the author doesn't care about the love triangle nor Komi's development.
What we get from this chapter that is meaningful is that Komi doesn't like Manbagi getting a leg up on her, but won't do anything about it because she doesn't value herself at all.

I'm not saying that Komi should've sabotaged Manbagi or backstab her and confessed to Tadano first. But at least take it bloody seriously. Does she like him or not? Is she not interested in having a romantic relationship with Tadano?

Ase and Isagi is just the worst part of this whole chapter. Their antics takes the majority of the chapter without adding anything meaningful at all. Why are they here? What purpose do they serve other than "D'aww look at all these cinnamon rolls"? If you take both of them out it changes nothing about the chapter. Those pages could have been used for Komi contemplating on what she wants and how she feels if the relationship will go towards Manbagi's way. Instead we only got the whole gang making stupid faces.

Did the author even know what he's doing? Did he add Ase and Isagi because he honestly doesn't know how to fill the rest of the chapter?

Don't get me started on Manbagi's attitude. Why is she asking permission to confess? Does Komi own her? Does Komi own Tadano? Why should she have Komi's consent to confess to Tadano? Is she an inferior to Komi? What if Komi said no? Well shit guess you can't confess now huh, maybe try again in a few years. Or better yet find someone else, maybe mistress Komi will approve.

I'm just so frustrated on how this whole thing is being handled. If it just take this seriously, actually have the characters have conflict with each other and then try to sort it out. I wouldn't be so harsh on it. Instead we only got this wet noodle of emotion. Gaaah.

Fuck it, I hope Manbagi wins.

Dude, you posted your comment twice.
Well,
I agree with you, both the girls should have a serious communication about it.
Well, i don't think the ship is gonna sink in the upcoming chaps, maybe.... maybe
Rumiko will confess to tadano and by some clichéd reason he could not hear it...... Confession cancelled, back to love triangle........well it's just a theory.

On one hand, Idgaf after reading this manga for +2 years I don't have any hopes for progress, I keep reading for the occasional fluff and laugh
On the other hand, Komi x Tadano is the only way, anything else is heresy

@Dr_Depression I don't want to rule out TadaxRumiko quite yet. My hope is the author decides its worth it to run an arc on how to deal with that awkward friendship when your best friend is dating your crush. Or maybe even on how sometimes the guy you want wasn't what you expected. That'd make for some cool exploration imo. All in all though, I wouldn't be surprised if Manbagi is shot down whole heartedly lol. Maybe there will be an alt-spinoff like with Clannad.

I have no horse in this race, so idc who Tadano ends up with, but to be honest I can see him dating Manbagi for a bit before breaking up with her for Komi

This is the most frustrating chapter to date. Started by dropping a bomb before shifting the focus to a dog chasing it's tail.

This chapter should've taken itself more seriously. It started off with Manbagi announcing her intent to confess. Add to foreshadowed development of Komi overcoming a part of her, means the series is taking another big step forward. Yet, it's more interested in having the characters making funny faces because the author thinks the readers couldn't care less about the love triangle or have ADHD.

Ase and Isagi is the worst part of this chapter, they add absolutely nothing of importance to the chapter. If you remove them, nothing in the plot changes. What was their point here? So that the author have an excuse to draw funny faces? Does he think that if he doesn't add any comedy, no one would be interested in Komi or Manbagi? Can he not take this arc seriously?

Manbagi is also terrible in this. She told Komi that she's going to confess to Tadano. Fine, she has a unique rival/supporter relationship with Komi, I get it. But why the fuck is she asking for permission? Is Komi her superior? Does Komi own her? Does Komi own Tadano? Can she not do anything that involves Tadano without Komi's approval? What if Komi said no? Well shit, guess Manbagi has to try again in a few years, or better yet find someone else, maybe mistress Komi will approve.

Komi isn't any better. Does she even care if Manbagi wins over Tadano? Does she even like him? Is she even invested in creating a romantic relationship with Tadano? Well she said she doesn't like it, but doesn't express any desire to win or anything. I'm not telling her to sabotage or backstab Manbagi. But for god's sake women actually express some conflict or remorse or any bloody negative feeling. Is she secretly a cuckold? she looks bloody pleased at the idea of losing Tadano to Manbagi.

Fuck it, I hope Manbagi wins.

Oh I not only posted twice, I remade my statement thinking Mangadex failed to post my comment. I'm not sure who's to blame, Mangadex's servers or my shitty internet, regardless I'm having a bad day.

Rumiko will confess to tadano and by some clichéd reason he could not hear it...... Confession cancelled, back to love triangle........well it's just a theory.
That would be the absolute worst outcome. It's one thing to mishandle a chapter's tone. But it's beyond stupid to move forward with development only to revert back to the status quo in the end. I WANT a ship to sink by the end of this. Else I will never read anything love related in this series.

@nutman451 Nah, you have to take account on how it all played out by looking back at earlier chapters, I think this is the best both komi and manbagi do to answer the current situation especially if Oda regarded this chapter to be initial build up for the upcoming valentine arc he mentioned before.

Komi in all her life never had a girl bff before, manbagi is literally her very first bff where she thought she can be comfortable enough to the point she talked to her verbally more than she did to tadano. The fear of losing her only bff only to win tadanobowl feels natural to me, and perhaps it also explained why during the stair talk on 2nd year festival arc she gave manbagi a pass with her neutral answer to chase after tadano just to maintain status quo dynamic between them three. And don't forget this is komi's first experience in handling between close circle conflict that involved her bff and love interest so it's kinda understandable that she took this approach to avoid losing neither of them because of her fearful nature, even though we knew it all will reach its conclusion whether she liked it or not.

Meanwhile manbagi needs to learn that just because a guy is nice to you doesn't mean he's interested back at you. She made a mistake back in mid school with uesugi in ch 142 and now she made that mistake again and this time unaware with her new bff's love interest. Considering she was as fearful as komi in losing her only bff in 2nd year class for tadanobowl, what manbagi did by asking komi for permission makes sense because she simply doesn't want to go over komi's back, after all komi did give her the chance to fight in tadanobowl. And let me remind you both of these dorks are as clueless as they were depicted in previous chapters that explained their lack of knowledge in flirting, gaining initiative or winning the race are not the theme here, it's all up to tadano who he will choose based on his own experience dealing with both of them.

Isagi and ase are a weird addition here I agree. But as I said before if Oda really intend this chapter as initial buildup, then them knowing komi and manbagi is fighting over tadano will be consequential for post-confession arc to which each one of them will have a role in forming a new dynamic between komi and manbagi, at least that's what I saw.

Also is @xystus your another account? Why is his comment is so similar with your comment? Is he just copied yours? Or is this just another MD server bamboozle wtf

Even Isagi and Ase know that Komi likes Chadano while like the rest of the class didn't know Manbagi did as well which goes to show where she belongs and doesn't stand a chance. Maybe she'll end up with Katai and will name their boy Hitohito so they'll have Chadano of their own.

I hope tadano doesn’t date manbagi just cause she confesses first, only to dump her for komi. Manbagi doesn’t deserve that.

This is why when a love triangle or harem happens I usually just drop a manga unless I really really like it and feel that the story offers more than just boy x girls
