It's obviously far too late for this, but these last few chapters made me realize the series should have pivoted to Hitomi being the protagonist. I actually enjoyed these chapters. It felt like a story where there are characters who want to do things for reasons, and Hitomi is the engine whose meddlesome nature keeps it all in motion.

I don't want to reread this whole-ass thing to figure it out, but I think the core issue has been the change in concept. I'll break it out like this:
Phase I: Everyone loves Komi purely because of her aura; not who she is. Komi is frightened and alienated by this. Tadano is level-headed enough to notice this. Silly, one-dimensional characters hoist their expectations on Komi, but now Tadano is able to intercede and allow these characters to actually see each other as individuals. This creates depth.
Phase II: This character depth allows for more complex plots and relationships between characters. Now there can be actual drama that the audience feels invested in.
Phase III: Everybody loves Komi because of who she is, and she is seemingly able to solve every issue because of this. Tadano and her now drift aimlessly through the sea of indistinguishable side-characters and their pointless problems we have no reason to care about.

I agree. Pivoting towards an encapsulated Shouske spin-off sooner would have worked wonders for the manga, especially when considering that Shouske is pretty much be an alternative MC that could have easily taken the load off the main cast at any time.

The whole third year arc could have been a lot less of a slog and wouldn't stagnate with the author's constant barrage of barely memorable fodder characters.

I just watched the anime this month and decided to become one of those who reads the manga because they're too impatient to wait for a third season. At first, I was intimidated by the sheer number of chapters but motivated to get through them...

Then I saw the lack of English and realised it's just another manga that makes me regret not sticking with Spanish after high school.

This series has some good love and friendship stories but sometimes, there too many unnecessary scenes when it can be cutdown to the ones that actually matter to Komi; her making 100 friends and relationship with Tadano.

Current arc is good. There's still some magic to this. This energy needs to be kept up in the home stretch; not introducing a dozen new characters no one will care about.

Now that Komi-san is in its final stretch, I would like to dedicate a few words to Tadano. If it were not for the concept of proactivity and his selflessness in always supporting Komi, series like Gotoubun and 100 Kanojo wouldn't exist, and they wouldn't have had the success they had, literally Fuutaro and Rentaro are Tadano's disciples. That influence can also be felt in series like Megami no Café Terrace, Ogami Tsumiki to Kinichijou, Mayonaka Heart Tune, Mikadono Sanshimai wa Angai, Choroi., Tonari no Kurokawa-san, Kasane ga Sane no Hatsukoi desu ga, among others.

Some people may not believe what I'm saying because of how the series has changed over the years, but in the first few chapters he showed a side that no MC had done back then, and that's important in my book. Tadano made history, and no one can take that away from him.
