That's what happens when you run out of material to adapt and just make shit up on a chapter by chapter basis.
Sure, there’s probably some teething issues due to running out of pre-written material. But it’s also a callback to earlier in the series when Alan worried about the locals having access to powers that can put up a fight against pulse rifles and artifacts that exceed modern Imperial technology.

We're talking about medieval yokels here not WWI trench soldiers who are familiar with the concepts.
Bro wdym, guns and the likes already existed back in the Medieval times, and it's not hard to explain.
It's literally just, put the funny discs (or whatever shape the ordinance is, I just assume it's either the silliest of putty or mines) wherever you want stuff to stop existing then press the button to make it go boom.

It's not just you, we kinda just zipped right past the discovery stage and into here.
Magic tech has been an established thing in this world, it’s just that we haven’t seen much of it as they explained that it’s expensive to make and expensive to purchase the bigger contraptions. Remember how much it cost Alan to get taught how to make the items, and then how much he was able to sell them for? They weren’t cheap by any stretch of the imagination.

Also keep in mind that this is a king that’s laying siege to the territory, so it’s not out of the ordinary for a king to use his treasury to get the best toys for war.

As for your comment about the mines, it isn’t outside of the realm of possibility for them to know how to use a fancy bomb. Instead of using a fuse they have a “magic” button to press to trigger them, so it’s easy to see how knights wouldn’t be surprised.

Mate, thanks for the update I guess, but even if you don't have a quality checker AT LEAST get the names right. I know it's an 100% free fansub and I am not paying a single dime for it, but I don't think I'm asking for something unreasonable here.

Finally they counterattack. Using mines and drones isn't a bad choice, but I question the need to actually send out swordfighters as well. Given the enemy's 100 to 1 numerical advantage, there is simply no reason to fight them fair and square at any point. The defenders should be as unfair as possible if they truly plan on minimizing casualties.

Also, Selena duelling Agostini is certainly for theatrics and not a very sound tactical choice. They could instantly end him with one precise drone strike, energy rifle shots, an artillery barrage or a dragon attack, but for some reason they want to put on a show with blades. Action fanservice I guess.

I feel like this is closer to trolling at this point rather than a simple typo or mere carelessness.
