This is an interesting take on this type of manga I am liking it so far, thank you for the translation.

Most impressive tusks.

Couldn't Alan actually reload his rifle by converting energy inside the magic stones into the whatever energy the rifle uses?

@Kaarme Probably depends on if he can convert it. I imagine it is like and AC vs DC thing, only with a bigger difference. It is probably possible to make a magic tool that produces the power he needs, but he doesn't know how (afaik), and I imagine it wouldn't be easy.

What surprises me is that with the level of tech they have he doesn't have some sort of solar charger or a mini bio reactor or something similar. I would think that is something that would be essential in any escape pod/survival kit.

@saphirekosmos Hard to say. In our reality firearms obviously are very dependent on an ammo supply, which can be a big weakness in a tough spot. So, it would be an attractive feature to be able to reload using versatile energy sources. At the same time, though, if the rifle already has a capacity of 1000 shots between reloads, it might render the issue somewhat unimportant. Getting stranded on some godforsaken planet and still being able to reload probably wasn't discussed when the government contacted the gun manufacturers.

Still, if it was possible and the dude had a 100W foldable solar panel, it wouldn't be that bad. If we assume his rifle punched with the power of a Lapua Magnum calibre snipe rifle to be able to stop those bug bastards, that is, about 6.9kJ, and the reload was only 50% efficient, it woud only take a couple of minutes to recharge a single shot. It would be worth it since he doesn't spend most of his time shooting.

@saphirekosmos maybe novel only spoilers, but
his escape pod sank into the lake, and I think he lost some of the survival kit type stuff with it. In the novel there is more discussion of the manufacturing defects in the escape pod - it should float, etc.

@saphirekosmos , @Kaarme - they have a mini bio reactor. It's called "stomach", and it powers Alan and his nanom. On the other hand, powering a rifle with that would put quite a strain on the user.
Also, we don't know if the rifle shoots some exotic matter that can't me manufactured conveniently. Like tiny darts of neutronium or something.

Props to the LT for prioritizing augur sensors - I'm still wondering if he's a fully trained "space marine" XD or was more of a support element.

He's in a future where "warp" technology exists.
He doesn't have sonar, radar, echolocation technology (or anything close)

lol such awful writing. Why would the cores only be mentioned now? There was plenty of time before. Especially with how quickly she got over the initial catastrophe. So many plot holes it’s kind of saddening. But what can you expect from stories like this.

Not in the form of convenient nanobots, yes.
In space warfare, sonar and echolocation just don't work, and even radar isn't as useful as it sounds, because it's restricted by speed of light.
While ground warfare is dominated by stealth, so it's entirely possible that active sensors would be seen as outdated.
