Okay wait. Why did they NOT kill the the obvious power hungry basic evil villain again? I mean with him knowing magic and being able to cause trouble without any weapons makes him and every other magic criminal pretty dangerous. Plus it’s like medieval ages, the death penalty/execution should be a REALLY obvious conclusion. Not to mention this penalty just seems unnecessarily and obviously cruel and unusual and needlessly leaves room for him to breakout and cause more trouble. Like am I missing/forgetting something from the previous chapters where they just ABSOLUTELY HAD TO keep the dangerous magic criminal alive and instead mentally break him and give him access to a space where time is distorted and his only option is to go insane or bide his time and do a lot of learning/growth/research/practice and become more of a problem, or you know.... BOTH. No seriously though, all the social, economic, and other issues with the death penalty both don’t exist and haven’t been researched yet. The literal best thing about these types of settings is they can straight up execute villains that would otherwise become a huge problem for no reasons. This is like Gotham levels of pointless punishments
