Yuna is the grand-daughter of a tycoon; her parents were unproductive consumers.

While Yuna often seeks new ways of doing business, she proceeds based upon calculated risks, rather than entrepreneurially. Entrepreneurs proceed in the face of uncertainty that is not subject to ready calculation. One of the reasons that Yuna prospers to the extent that she does is that she is operating in a world with no entrepreneurs. Most people in this world do not consider any change to the prevailing social order, including the economic order.

CEOs are top-level managers; they may behave entrepreneurially, or may proceed with great aversion to uncertainty; they may even not seek new markets. Nor are most CEOs (entrepreneurial or otherwise) psychopathic or sociopathic. As to greed, it depends upon what one means by “greed”; I'd say that people who rant against CEOs are more likely to be greedy than the CEOs themselves; that is to say that the ranters are typically more willing to destroy enormous amounts of wealth in grasping for unattainable personal material gain. The ambition of the typical CEO is to earn money.

I recommend that you guys read the translated novel, before the anime release. Expect they will omit some events that will happen. It's around 300ish chapters of slice of life, so expect it to less action and more cute moments

Yes and no, It's seems like an entrepreneur for a third party but she's only implementing things that she knows will works (poultry, cheese, modern restaurants, silk, new food) and yet she never go to such extend to a modern production means goes because she never desire to actively earn money (her entire liquid assets are enough to cause a pretty bad deflation of gold in the entire continent, worse than silver in peak spaniard colonialism era) but to sate a better state of life.

i think he was referring to the study that pointed out that CEO´s have an abnormally high amount of people who showed those kinds of tendencies.
IIRC it said something along the lines of there being 1% of the population who shows signs of being psychopaths, while it was like 4-10 % on people who were in the CEO position.
(i don't remember the exact number but it was significantly higher )
Psychopaths and sociopaths both have tendencies to be charismatic leaders and in general show characteristics of what a good CEO should be, and end up in leadership positions because of it. So yeah, the study basically said that CEOs are more likely to be Psychopaths and sociopaths becouse those kinds of people exel in that field of work.

a quick google search should find it if you are interested.

I'm already aware of that study.

A major problem with any such study is that, because of odd notions about ethics, it is considered to be unethical to do brain scans to detect disorders of this sort, though they clearly show-up with such scans. Consequently, the Hare Psychopathy Checklist is used, though it is not a product of rigorous science and is subjectively applied.

Were we to accept the results of a study in which people who expected to find a higher frequency of psychopathy in CEOs and then subjectively discerned it, it would remain the case that the vast majority of CEOs aren't psychopathic or sociopathic.

Psychopaths and sociopaths are manipulative, but that doesn't mean that they are typically very good at manipulation. I wouldn't say that they are generally charismatic.

People with narcissistic personality disorder — which is not conterminous either with sociopathy or with psychopathy — are going to be drawn to positions in which they are treated with admiration, but charisma will cause them to only excel to the extent that success is a function of image. The vast majority of CEOs head small firms and are largely unknown; many CEOs of large firms are virtually unknown even to most of their stockholders. The common notion of the CEO is an unrepresentative amalgamation of the well-known CEOs and of the CEOs of fiction.

@Oeconomist - sure, a lot of psychopaths are too dumb to become CEOs. The ones who can get there are called "high-functioning", I think.

Anyway, the good thing about Yuna is, she doesn't go out of her way to squeeze every last bit of profit. This gives her a margin of employee loyalty and resilience that allows her to start new projects.

Even without being sociopath or psycho ceo job is like ruler you need to make difficult choices like fire people or going to war. If you are too empathetic it's over you will mismanage 100%

Well, short-term profit-maximization often undermines long-term profit-maximization. Whatever her motivation, Yuna may well be squeezing-out every bit of long-term pecuniary profit, in part by accumulating enormous social capital which supports later profits.

@Kamelpov

Poor decisions don't result from too much empathy, though they often result from inappropriately selective empathy.

the feeling is kinda like only a paragraph ended, but I know from wn that it's about half of the chapter or only 4 paragraphs.
I'm waiting to see one of the most epic fight scene which is bad written on wn but my imagination helped spice things up so it's become epic....though I hate when she's only fight for the girl even a person she know is in dangerous situation, when I read that I felt bad as a human being.

@flupser Earl is the British equivalent to the European Count, so it should've been Lady rather than Countess here, but I doubt the author has considered that.

@Flupser From my poor understanding both Earl and Count usually fulfill the same nobility functions, but have different way for the title to be earned or inherited.

From the few examples I found both title used to be nobles who managed a designated plot of land in the King stead, but from the reign of King Richard II onward the Earl title would only persist to the one who own it (not passed down to their children), or it would be passed down to some male heir only (inheritance about Earl title seems to fluctuate from one case to another), while the Count title would be inherited by all children and heirs almost regardless of circumstances compared to Earl title.

Effectively Earl and Count is the same title, but Count is the version that has better recognition in inheritance, while Earl is a bit more of a throwaway title with less chance for the title to stick around down a few generations.

I like how she has all that money and still haggled the price for the land she bought in the other town.
