@eviljackspicer Because this was previously licensed. One Peace Books published up to Volume 8, but hasn't released anything further since 2018 and presently do not have Volume 9 in their 2020 release schedule- I am under the impression they have dropped it or let the publishing license lapse but I cannot find any official statement they are done with publishing it.
This new group has picked up where the official release has stopped thus far, which is reasonable enough in my opinion. Glad to see it's back.
I honestly loath companies that don't finish what they pick up. There are several manga that were licensed the I loved that were dropped part way through.
Machi on the cover with the over the shoulder pigtails looks very much like Yuri Tamura from WataMote.
In regards to the chapter itself, I suppose whatever happened to Machi's parents happened when she was very young. Unless the whole "flashback" was a lie by Natsu.
@eviljackspicer For what it's worth, there's 13 volumes now and depending on when they originally licensed it, there may have only been 8 tanks released. That is to say their original license could have only extended to what was available and they opted to not acquire the rest based on their sales. They are a business, I cannot seriously demand they keep a series that might be under-performing. In absence evidence, it's hard to know what exactly went on or what is presently happening- compared to something like the defunct Tokyopop squatting on publication rights they got earlier and thus preventing other publishers from picking up where they left off or relaunching entirely.
I know, I know, it's just frustrating. Example being Baka and Test, where it was being scanlated, and it gets picked up by Book Walker. Scanlators drop it, and then Book Walker drops it with 2 books left unfinished. Then the series loses immediate interest and gets lost in the sea of incoming new manga.
