There seems to be a lot of missing (though implied) information.
-Consider that both the leads seem to only have 1 sister as a family contact.
-Last chapter Sasaki said "In the past, my family used to (emphasis my own) call me 'Toichi'."
-This chapter Tabata says his sister became strict with him since they started living together (with him being a 2nd year she's around 7 years older here).

Neither of them know it about the other, but my theory is that there are no living parents involved here.

I feel like if the sister was an ugly mom/dad and said the exact same words, everyone here would be like "What a controlling asshole!" But because the sister had a cute blushy embarrassed face and a gap moe people are discounting her completely controlling his life to the point he feels trapped.

Lots of people have severe anxiety, myself included, and the worst part is the people around you having to suffer because of it. But that doesn't justify it, and if you are the parent or guardian that just turn into child abuse when it's directed at them.
