There seems to be a lot of missing (though implied) information.
-Consider that both the leads seem to only have 1 sister as a family contact.
-Last chapter Sasaki said "In the past, my family used to (emphasis my own) call me 'Toichi'."
-This chapter Tabata says his sister became strict with him since they started living together (with him being a 2nd year she's around 7 years older here).

Neither of them know it about the other, but my theory is that there are no living parents involved here.

They lose their parents and sister is terrified of losing him so she becomes overbearing and controlling, pushing him away.

Hopefully we will get to see them build a healthy loving relationship. Don't get to see that too often in manga. Though it will probably take a decade at this rate.

I'd say that in 11 chapters he's made some good progress. He's on speaking terms with two girls in his class, none of his classmates are antagonistic towards him, he's garnered respect from Class A's P & VP...He's just gotta navigate HS as best as he can.

The family drama here feels kind of weird. It's like, on the one hand, she's been controlling his life like a helicopter parent for the last few years (or something?) to the point where it's been undermining his ability to form social connections to his peers, which apparently has caused him to develop anxiety and communication issues. But on the other, they kinda play it off like a joke, like lol his hot older sister's a brocon. I dunno where this is gonna go, but it kinda felt like there was a sort of tonal dissonance here.
