Those monsters are certainly concentrating on destroying buildings. Is Flue working for the demons, not interested in conquering human lands but instead simply destroying those lands and the inhabitants? After all, if Flue was working for a rival human kingdom, you'd think they would prefer less damage. The value of the captured land is much lower if the towns are in total ruins.

I knew it, the moment she left the city that barrier was effectively toast. And whatever faction that manipulated her into leaving would be ready to exploit the opportunity. I guess the capital is done for (at least get the corrupt and stupid first prince and his underlings if not), but they can help the nearby town. Henrietta is kind and patriotic, but the protagonist honestly owes that crappy kingdom nothing. And he still hasn't recovered any of his non-dark magic powers.
