And first chapter of current title basically recap for chapter 10 previous title but with various differences like meeting circumstances between knight-horse-girl and foster half-elf daughter and so far they did not showed that dwarf from stables joined their trip. Also there wasn't noble girl in chapter 1.1 that bullies dwarf in stables that was shown in chapter 10 previous manga.

So far that's all about differences.

It is a sequel after a timeskip of three years. Kurono still got the same slaves. The art is different though because the previous adapting mangaka called it quits.

I always cringe when the mangaka wrote "army" yet I always see a mess of unorganized masses or melee. No man what you're doing is a streetfight. Literal thousands of years humans fight on line formations and these mangakas seem to not be the least bit read on these topics. There's a reason why students "form a line" on ceremonies. Jeez.

Few manga out of historical genre even tries to be a bit truthful to melee warfare. Berserk is still the best one in fantasy setting. Too bad the mangaka left this world with his work unfinished.

Also, I don't have the contexts, but I'm gonna give my thoughts.

First off, why did he appoint a traumatized civilian as a commander? She doesn't seem that trained and she wants out of her position.

She literally got a bunch of her soldiers killed in her battle.

Secondly, the mc doesn't seem that trained in combat. If the opponent was a little more sneaky, the mc would've just died right then and there.

He seems more suited as a manager, seeing as he somehow knows a whole bunch of things from our world like how to make paper.

Third, why does it seem like the mc only got his position by screwing people in higherup positions?
