Sorry not sorry, guys, but her trauma is still legit to me : she literally lost her two "best friends" (if you could call them that) back then without doing anything but being a little prettier than others.

Plus, remember : she might put on a flashy front but she's still that awkward shy girl she used to be, not some overconfident gyaru who thinks highly of herself.

So, yes, cut her some slack for not wanting to be called a tease/traitor once again.

I'm constantly reminded on these forums that media literacy and empathy are in fact in short supply on the interwebs, and people would much rather project their own values and opinions on others rather than consider that differing perspectives and life experiences exist.

Eh, a lot of manga have pretty mediocre writing, and rather trope-y arcs that make readers go "I recognize what author is trying to do and I'm not gonna fall for it", and a lot of time I see people using "media literacy" as "how dare you stinky peasant criticize my favorite slop". Now, I don't think it was bad Kusunoki chapter at all, but I can understand people being apprehensive and doubtful, especially with how little work went into writing of Kusunoki's character so far.

Though it's true that people are being a little ridiculous with the snake for/against cheering.

I want to believe so bad. But it most likely only being one chapter left it feels rough.. if it wasn't getting axed I'd have hope in future chapters.. himari deserves the best. 😭🙏

She's also a dumb teenager who is not very socially adapt and gullible/innocent especially on manners of the heart.

It was perfectly reasonable to me AND was resolved in about 2 pages. Its not one of those "5 chapters of mounting evidence later..."

I was a Honoka simp from day 1, honor requires I throw in for the childhood friend. But Hima and Kanna were both done super, super dirty. I thought Kanna's attraction to Tenchi was the weakest, but she was sweet and proactive and did NOT deserve to be shotdown like that; she wasn't even my girl and I'm still mad.
Hima as well. Like there was no hints that the Mangaka was setting up a they might be better as friends/"its ok to just be friends and not romantically in love" message, only showing how absolutely perfect for each other Ten and Hima were, even raising thier adopted son Maru together. So it just felt slapdash and random, especially with Honoka and Tenchi still keeping each other at arms length because they are too worried about the other person.
Its not even a bittersweet "CEO Hima looking through a photo album, remembering the guy she fell for in highschool but let slip through her fingers because she didn't want to get in the way of his crush" ending; she went full court press but didn't have the needed conviction to go all the way.

And its galling because it was so peak until the Kanna rejection arc started adn its been extremely mid since.

tldr: The only real answer was.Ex-Idol Onee-Sensei Supremacy.At least Maya won biggly.

Obviously the manga won't go there .... but what if. WHAT IF. She succeed in her goal and her feelings did fade away. She feels no romantic feelings to MC, not even in far future. And seeing her disinterest, Keisuke simply moves on. They keep their friendship, push each other to be more social and remove bad aspects of themselves and we go to a friendship ending. If they have romantic adventure, it would be another character, and Kusonoki and Keisuke would try to help each other up if need be. Pure friendship manga, and the romantic side is treated as side goal of growing up. I don't care much about the snake girl, even if there's a plot where Keisuke help her or something, Moe is fine I guess but Keisuke isn't really that interested.

Fanfiction aside, it was interesting to see Kusonoki try to question her feelings via AI, it's very much a thing now and it's not a SCI FI stuff, so manga integrating in the story is normal I guess. If there's any question, just ask AI, it's easy to do and may change the dynamics of kids/teens growing up. AI isn't perfect but you can spend time conversing with any topic and can give you a lot to think about.

Oh come on, this is basically just like googling and checking whatever dumb articles and biased discussions would turn up at the top , except more averaged out.

It's not like asking some randos on the net about your emotions was really better, and most of the time AI is just gonna throw bland platitudes and some common opinions it basically googled itself when learning. It's the lack of real life socializing that's the already big problem here, not so much the AI which will just add to it. People addicted to Twitter aren't any healthier mentally than those chatting with AIs.
