Hmm... I don't know why, but I've got a bad feeling there's gonna be some misunderstanding drama later on :pepehmm:

Kusunoki walking with that dude: Shizuki gets jealous
Moe walking with Shizuki: Kusunoki gets jealous

How much drama will we get? Find out on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z

What’s up with the random time skips, is this getting the ax

Hmmm maybe not an axe but perhaps it won't go on for as long as people are expecting?

Alternatively, it could be timeskipping to summer break to setup interactions outside of school.

I sense impending doom for Moe.

If I had to guess, this will be where Otobe is officially shut down.
That, or I suspect Kusunoki will show up at last and see the two of them from afar and start sinking further into her uneasy jealousy, trending further toward her "dark self" wherein she'll (eventually, not right this moment) swap narrative roles with Hebikawa.

Dunno if we'll even see Snek during the festival 'arc', as a result; this might be the focal point of Kusunoki and Otobe's friendly rivalry becoming not-so-friendly.
Though it would set up a chance for her to also have a Festival Moment with either Keisuke or Kusunoki, further pushing Hebikawa along toward the "light" through wholesome interactions that leave her further questioning herself, I guess.

I'm still not convinced Kusunoki will have a dark side, if anything, Moe will get gently rejected and Kusunoki gets closer with Keisuke.

I just can't picture Kusunoki turning into a mean girl and intentionally start hurting Moe.

That would just validate Hebikawa's worldview.

My point in all of this is that Hebikawa needs to also be redeemed, and one way of that happening is her realizing her worldview is tilted prior to her being the one to help Kusunoki.

Having them flip narrative positions and then having Hebikawa "save" Kusunoki heals them both. Plus, Kusunoki would gain more dynamic range in her character by becoming more than this flawless moe girl who can do no wrong. Her turning "dark" doesn't validate Hebikawa's worldview if Hebikawa also turns toward the "light" before it happens, which is why I said it this festival arc isn't when the switch occurs, only that this could be the next step in the process.
