dude, these are teen age adolescents we are talking about. you can't compare what he is going through to an adult. its growing pains what the boy is having, let him have emotions to the pain he feels. you are way too invested in this comic.
Not sure how I am more invested than people actually venting and raging at a fictional character?
Yeah they are teenagers, they say shit, they be disrespectful.
Maybe its because I am Australian but sticks and stones...

I think you don't know what bullying means. Looking a kid in the eyes and insulting him is bullying. It's not some multilayered definition we need to parse here.
His reaction to this was extreme, but not unprecedented. It's why we just generally don't do this to people. Like punching someone in the head can kill them in one blow...so you don't do it. Hebikawa not expecting this doesn't absolve her of the effects.
Having PTSD doesn't make someone a bitch. It means that person needs therapy.
Our definitions of bullying are different then.
A one off remark is not bullying
She very well be a "bully" but shes not "bullying" the MC she hasn't done anything repeated. Getting PTSD from such a tame situation is so laughable, yeah the MC needs therapy

Theres a reason this is a story, because its so extreme, if anything I feel like the MC been more of a bully to the tomboy rather than how Hebikawa been to him.

I don't think comparing two acts is really relevant here. And if your definition of bullying require multiple acts, that's fine. Doesn't change that Hebikawa looked him in the eye and called him gross.
I don't see that as a 'good' action and wouldn't look down on a kid for having a major response to such, one they clearly can't control. They're known for that and it is what it is.

Except she didn't bully him. She just thought he was gross (and to be fair, to middle school girls, he really was gross). In fact, she still treated him well and was nice to him.

His trauma was finding out that the girl that was nice to him thought he was gross....
I think the trauma is in part from her looking him in the eye while saying it. Overhearing it is one thing, her seemingly intentionally hurting him with a smile after showing kindness is another.

He was already in a very bad place mentally when she approached him with her fake ass smile and attention in middle school which gave him a light of hope. She however just used him to keep up her image. Just like a sociopath would. She sees nothing wrong with this as well. Anyone who also don't see anything wrong with what she did is also on the same spectrum.

It will be more apperant in following chapters. She is by far the most fucked up person in the cast.
Oh i know she is fucked up. Probably theres gonna be some mfk with the "I can fix her mentality" lmao. But yeah that 1st part was the answer i was looking for

Yes, the issue is the entire process. I don't understand why people are acting like it was just her calling him gross all of a sudden. She showed him fake compansion, gained his trust and admiration when he was at his lowest than shit all over it. That's what caused the trauma. Not the insult itself.

It wasn't like she went out of her way to hurt him though.

Like, she didn't actually try to hurt him or have any intention of hurting him.

He just overheard her real feelings. And yah, it sucks.... but it's not like she deserves punishment or sh*t like that.

In the end, she gained trust and admiration because she showed compassion. It doesn't matter if she didn't care about him or if she only did it to look good.

It's better to have people be polite than people to act like jerks for no reason.

People try to make themselves look good all of the time.

The fact that she was even going out of her way to act nice is a good thing. Sure, she might not actually care about him...

But so what????

We shouldn't judge people by their thoughts. Because everyone has bad thoughts...

In the end, her actions were still good and she hasn't actually done anything wrong.

Holy shit the sociopaths self reporting here is insane.

Some of you folk really have no empathy nor considerstion for others besides how they can be used for your own gain. Justify it however you want but thats still utterly fucked and will harm a more innocent and less jaded person. Borderline evil psycho behaviour, normal people are more considerate of how their actions and intentions will affect the people they interact with.

Sane humans arent purely rational beings that solely act on quid pro quo
Dude, YOU are the sociopath.

Think about it, just because she called a boy gross, you want to hate on a little girl.

Think about how evil that actually is.

YOU are the one with no empathy.

Most of us aren't saying it doesn't suck that his feelings aren't hurt, but at the same time, we are pointing out that he hasn't actually gone through a lot and she didn't do anything worthy of hate.

And yes, you are right, humans aren't purely rational..... but in the end, the girl didn't do anything worthy of hate.

Yes, it hurt his feelings. But he still has to grow up.

Most people hear probably have been bullied way worse.

And saying a person needs to grow stronger isn't a bad thing. Humans are also stronger than you think. But what we need isn't people pretending to feel sorry for us and villainizing people for opinions or minor matters, but friends that help us stand strong and over come our issues.

Yes, it's sad that he got called gross.... but it's not that big of a deal. Even if it hurt his feelings, it's still a minor matter.

Who isn't lol
She has her own goals and motives, the shits shes done is so fucking tame. Go ahead and list all them awful things cuz its so mild, yeah she talks shit who the fuck knew the MC was gonna take that shit so badly lmao.
Who isn't manipulative, condescending, scheming and is always looking at how to take advantage of other people? Uhh, normal people with empathy? Most of the people you're talking about who dislike her? I understand now why you're confused by the hate for her, it's cuz you just relate to her lol.

It's very possible to be ambitious and have goals without treating people as tools and taking advantage of everyone you can, brother. If you think its just about "talking shit" you're totally missing the point and i guess you also didnt read the manga where it's made very clear that she's just looking at ways to use people to her own advantage

It's literally in the first chapter "if im kind to people that are beneath me, my reputation will build up". she sees herself as superior to other people and she's being deceptive/lying to others to benefit herself. even in the story the person she's talking to calls her "black-hearted". its so straightforward its kind of mind boggling you dont see why she's a bad person. Your defense for her is "we're all just like her, MC is just a bitch" but that's really just blatantly incorrect and kind of extremely telling about yourself, i dunno what else to tell you dude

It's less him that I think people are irritated with (many of us realize that he's just a kid and his over reacting is a character flaw he needs to out grow) and more the people that are acting like that girl is the anti-christ for thinking he's gross.

You realize she insulted him because she thought she was justified in doing so and you are insulting others because you think they are wrong for thinking what she did was a small matter.

You are exactly the same.

Personally, I don't really think you are a sociopath (I was using that ironically), but you need to understand, we as humans need to be stronger. And maybe that was too far to call you one, even as a joke, so I apologize.

And just because we think he's over reacting doesn't mean we wish him bad or want him to suffer.

In fact, it's the opposite.

I know exactly what it's like to be bullied and hated even when you do nothing wrong... from people looking down on you for the color of my skin or because they thought I was a nerd.

But I had to learn that I needed to love myself and just let it go when it came to them. If they had an opinion, they could have it.

And I realized that compared to my non-racist bullies, the racist dude who did nothing to me was a much better person.

He was a racist, but he did nothing bad..... so I ended up being the only person to know he was a racist.... but I'm fine with that, as long as he never does anything bad. He could think whatever he wants.

We can't blame the world, we have a responsibility to better ourselves. People can and should have their opinions (even you), but I hope you understand that even good human beings can disagree.

And you also need to understand, the MC has a responsibility to become stronger himself.

Just because he's sensitive doesn't mean what she did magically becomes any worse. In the end, all she did was call him gross.

She still acted nice to people, never bullied anyone and never actually went out of her way to ruin anyone's life. She has only done good to people.

And her only crime was thinking he was gross.

Re-read the chapter. As we've stated multiple times, she looked right at him when she said it with a smile. She either meant it to hurt, or didn't care if it hurt.
So yes, she did something wrong.
