Is it "quiet" because a forest isn't noisy like a city? Now that I think about it, wooded areas could have been called sylvan because they are quiet, not the other way around. Don't have a good resource to poke around the history of words, but am interested. - should have finished reading the thread before connecting.

My interpretation is, like law, the magic contract need a kind of confirmation that each party has completed their obligations. I interpreted it like that because, from what I learned, it considered to be a thievery once you perform an action to claim possession of an item, like grabbing it.

In this case I guess the exchange happened when the chick contracted Cornelia (the family claimed the summon) and Tougo grab Interia (he claimed Interia), thus the contract was confirmed by both sides. It could transfer Interia the moment the Phoenix contracted too, but if Glaren killed her immediately after, that might not count as contract breaching. So just to be safe, it waits, IMO.
