I find it interesting he's talking about working with primary colors. That works for additive mixtures like light (eg, computer monitor) -- but for subtractive mixtures, like bounced light, the CYMK (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, BlacK) combination is worlds better. Mixing primary RGB red/green/blue pigments darkens and muddies the more you mix. While you can still get bright colors mixing CMYK.
