From his short appearance here, the obvious story would be "evil, power-abusing noble tries to force MC into doing as he says but he gets out of it somehow (maybe with the appearance of someone from the main royal family, who are nice and he makes fast friends with)", which would be incredibly predictable and boring.

Mm, I would even say it's not a body type specifically, but more of a general aesthetic and/or collection of character archetypes and memes. Which sure, originated from how they'd draw children in many popular manga many years ago, and it is still used for that ofc, but in general it has since evolved from that and taken on a life of its own. I.e. nobody really cares how old Kagamine Len is, he's just the gen 2 shota vocaloid

Possibly. As someone as influential as he is, he probably wants the connection with a prestigious rising artist who's getting so much acclaim. At this point, the MC may only have been named, but might not have been described. He might not have any idea that the MC is a shota.
