Unpopular opinion time: I'm honestly impressed that the Second Princess had the stones to handle this shit herself and actually manage it somewhat skillfully until she tried laying her hands on the MC.

Because she has a house full of evidence that she did it?
Also, she might not have even bothered trying to frame him, because with all the evidence saying she did it, the only way out would be to claim you are being framed.
Considering its a whole greenhouse full of the stuff inside her house, it's not very likely anyone would even belive that even if it was a present who accused her.

Also what benefit does killing her give to the MC.
If anything it would make his relationship with the king worse.
Sure he might have been able to get away with it claiming self-defence or even hide all evidence that he did it.
But again, it doesn't benefit him in any way.
And IF he went with the "remove the evidence ", if it ever came out that he did it because of magic or whatever, it would make him look even worse for hiding it.

The only "benefit" killing her would be that it removes a potential threat, but considering she is locked up by the king himself it's not very likely she is going to get out anytime soon.
And the minor risk of her doing so is not worth souring his relationship with the kingdom.

Sorry but there is no way they would realistically believe his word over hers, it's not like there is photographic or audio evidence that proves she was behind everything.

@ReaVen_LEAD If I'm dead, I couldn't care less about that. They can show the contents of my computer at my funeral if they want. Hell, might put that in my will as my last spiteful act towards the living. "Y'all gotta sit through a slideshow of some of the most fucked up shit I've ever seen on the internet." Some of those gifs would be pretty traumatizing if I wasn't super desensitized. Never mind some of the videos.

sry to butt into your discussion but in my opinion the concious decision to let princess rosemary live isnt that problematic as you said its simple logic
since he wants to have friendly relations with the king, prince al and the silent princess sadly he cant just off her.

for me the problematic part was her surviving his frontal full power attack... as sofar he had made it a habit to "attack to kill" any and all aggressors... even the fight with the cat woman in the back alley if he hadnt stopped she would have caught his magic with her face
and the princess after being overpowered and stabbed through her defences with the spear staff from the front isnt impaled.... hard to belief...
sure if he had the choice she would always survive but he didnt know as he was surprised... so her surviving is strange

No worries mate.
well, you do have a point, but I that it would come down to how her barrier magic works I guess. ( or it's cartoon logic where nobody dies, even from anvils getting dropped on your head )
The barrier stopped the spear dead-on and only broke afterwards ( presumably from her running out of magic to power it ) after the first attack that clearly was meant to impale her.

It might have given MC enough time to react and make sure she doesn't die or depending on how you interpret page 19 it's even possible he didn't impale her at all after the barrier broke.
He might have just made a new attack and slapped her with the spear like a staff. considering he is holding it in a somewhat odd way on page 19.
The spear is sideways behind his back( and that is a poor way to get more power behind a trust attack ) but it would make sense if you assume he just slapped somebody with it.

Thanks for the chapter!
Seems the 2nd princess didn't realize she's the most corrupt of the nobility. Although restraining her to the tower for 'health reasons' despite being healthy can only work for so long. Besides, she probably has a lot of other conspirators and talent helping her either due to her manipulations or charisma. I can think of only one reason the king would summon MC with his fiancés while specifically referring to them as fiancés. This is just a guess but I bet he wants MC to become engaged to Marlene too. After all, looking at it as a father the MC is honest and upfront with her rather than trying to manipulate her for own gains like a lot of nobles would do. She likes him and his fiancés and is happy being with them. Looking at it as a king this would strengthen MC's ties to the royal family and kingdom even more which would decrease chances of him moving somewhere else taking away an S class mage who've defeated several demons the current knights and court wizards can't handle or possibility of MC becoming a threat to the kingdom. After all, MC isn't ambitious for a court position, the mansion discourages leaving but is not a strong tie for him to stay, and isn't laying any strong roots to stay in the capital.

@xxxNothingxxx If he killed her the king would move Heaven and Earth to find out who did it. Even with those automatons she likely needed a live person or two to take care of things in the mansion like the bookkeeping who could report what happened and a noble would've come visit her within a day or two and find the body. Also, he reported to the prince about investigating the fortune teller so once it was revealed that the 2nd princess was the fortune teller he wouldn't have been able to hide what he did. Heck, with all those spells he casted his magical signature is all over the place for the court magicians to find and they'd recognize it from analyzing the areas from where he fought those demons. Granted she's likely to become a problem later on but at least this way she's not interfering with him for a while along with exposing her misdeeds to the king. As for evidence there's the greenhouse full of forbidden herbs. Manga didn't seem to show what happened when he brought her to palace but likely called the prince over to take charge of her along with reporting her crimes.
