Hope you enjoyed this double release! We were a bit behind schedule last month, and since the last two chapters' page counts and titles imply they are two parts of what was originally one chapter, we decided to release both chapters on the same day.

Some things to note:
  • It's not clear if Cupids who "retire" just blip back into existence or what happens to the memories of people who believe their loved ones died only to have them reappear years later not having aged at all. The specifics will probably be further expanded in future chapters.
  • The way Kanna holds Koharu's glock in this chapter + the way she holds her grenade launcher in Chapter 0 suggest she's left-handed.

wow Kanna is kinda cruel. To actually choose Aki as her first target... If I were in Koharu's shoes, I don't know if I could do it.

I keep coming back to this chapter. Kanna tells Koharu that if she builds enough karma, then Koharu will come back as a high schooler but Aki will still be a university student. That's 3 years for bachelor's and 2 more if she's going for a master's. If Kanna really was the cupid that followed Koharu in high school and made the couple at the beginning of chapter one fall in love (via heart grenade), does that mean Kanna's been around as a cupid for at least 5 years? Is Kanna close to her quota? Do they have different quotas to fill? Does she think Koharu will finish fast or is Kanna just going slow? Or because Koharu is good at this, will her karma build up faster because the stability of her matches are better?

There are already quite a few hints that Kanna knew Koharu back 5 years ago, but the specifics of her circumstances are still unclear. It does seem like Kanna's been a Cupid for at leat 5 years in that case, though the prologue of Chapter 0 implies Chiyo's been around for at least a century, meaning that five years may not actually be that long a time to remain a Cupid. Regarding Karma, we know from Chiyo in Chapter 0 that Cupids aren't rewarded for making people who aren't their assigned targets fall in love, but we don't know if Karma can be lost or gained in other ways.
Chapter 0 actually did give us a small glimpse of Kanna's
heart dial, which was confirmed in Chapter 6 to be a measure of a Cupid's Karma.

It appears to be a little over half full, which is a little more than Chiyo's which is at half full in both Chapter 0 and Chapter 3.

I can see the logic as giving closure. But it does feel kinda cruel to go straight from dying in her arms to her being your first client as a ghost doing the same work that wore you out in life.

I would've given it a few days. Though maybe that was cut to keep the story moving.

Thanks for the tl notes! They are very helpful.

she can come back to life but as a high schooler? No reincarnation cycle or something like that? That's so weird! How would that work?!
